I have been noticing lately that people on this site are so paranoid about people being in their towns...
I am taking offense to people right now as I am a trustworthy staff member of ACBay and I wouldn't treat towns of other people any differently to how I treat my own town (with loving care)

This mistrust of ME by others is making me feel REALLY unwelcome on TBT.

I would NOT even dream of wrecking someone's town.
I have been wifiing ever since Animal Crossing Wild World and fish mistrust has just become stronger ever since the release of Animal Crossing New Leaf.

So basically, I want to know why people don't like me in their towns....

I doubt it is anything against you personally, there ARE alot of people out there who do not treat others towns with respect so you can't blame them for being a little worried, you are a stranger to them after all, being an staff member on a site doesn't change that fact.
Everyone is worried they may come across one of the rude players who steal/destroy is all.

It isn't anything against you personally. It is just that so many people are telling horror stories that others are afraid of inviting anyone in.

Well if they invite me ever, I'll guarantee that I will respect their town.
Everyone on TBT, just look out for Jason from London, he is my character.

Even if you post that though, you are still a stranger to some people. No matter what, people will always be wary the first time someone comes to their town. I know that I am a little cautious the first time someone comes to my town. The people who I have dealt with a lot can pretty much go wherever they please in my town because I know they won't destroy stuff. Try to see if people you have dealt with before will give you a good wi-fi feedback rating. Good ratings boost your credibility. :)

Yup, it doesn't have anything to do with you personally, although I understand what you mean. People can be paranoid sometimes, and no matter how nice you say you are there are still some people that will be suspicious. Don't worry, though; I know that I can trust that you're honest, and I don't mind if people don't allow me into their towns. I know that, despite their decision, I wouldn't think of ever harming anyone's town, even if they were really mean to me.
And Scribbler397 has a good point; it'll be good for you to wifi with people and act as nice as you said you are, so then your ratings will go up and people will have a bigger interest in letting you into their towns. :)

Again, as the other posters have said, don't take it personally. It's always a bit nerve wracking when you let a stranger wifi with you into something which you have put a lot of effort and care into. And 99% of the time that person you let into your town is awesome and fun and you can become great friends, but just like when you meet someone in real life that initial conversation can be a bit awkward and stilted. It's a shame that out there is 1% of players who ruin it for others. Like you I would never dream of doing anything in someone else's town that they didn't want me to do however I just got kicked out of a town recently because I didn't follow my host around and they thought I was being suspicious. All I was doing was chatting to their villagers which they said was ok to do. So who knows. All I'm saying is, don't take it personally and keep wifi-ing. And of course ratings and being a site manager will help but will always be taken with a grain of salt so don't worry if people are still cautious. It's only human nature after all.

When I have someone in my town, whether I know them or not, I will follow them. Not because I don't trust them, but because I just want to see what they are up to.
Try not to take it personally, it's just that some people may have heard stories that has made them paranoid.

Also keep in mind that every new game brings with it a load of players brand new to AC, so right now there are a ton of people new to the game and to the way people behave in it. I haven't had anything horrible happen to me but I have dealt with a few people who had seriously bad manners so far. There is some bad behavior going on, so people are being a bit wary with strangers.

I do this too! XD
I kind of feel like a hostess that should be around just in case. . idk for what though really. . . moral support?

I'll tell you one thing... Nothing makes me distrust someone more than them saying "you can trust me." Trust should come by your actions, and I won't trust someone unless they give me a reason to trust them. Until then, they're just another stranger to me.

I never pass judgement on anyone from the Bell Tree until I've had a bad experience with them. You are welcome to my town any time. Just let me know if you feel like coming over and I'll let you see my town.

I also follow people, not because I distrust them, but because I like to be near my guests. I'll let people wander in main street by themselves but when they are in my town I like to escort them around and show them my favorite parts of town.

You're just trying to trick me into letting you in so you can cut down my trees aren't you? Well I'm not falling for it.

I used to feel a bit like that too, but then I started growing hybrids and started to realise how it feels to worry that people can just march in and ruin/steal things like that. If I had a way to stop hybrids being so vulnerable, I would let people come whenever XD I even had a dodgy trader come by and run off towards them, and then try to perform a glitch in my town and dug lots of holes, and then never finished the trade they came for and refused to reply to me on the forum where we had been negotiating prior. It's impossible for anyone to know what someone will do when they reach their town and hybrids are one of the biggest risks from it.

The wifi ratings system is a huge help though, I certainly do feel better seeing a larger number of ratings and 100%, plus the comments are very helpful to know what they are like too c: I always try to remember to leave feedback for people every time we meet in game ^^

I've never had a problem letting people visit my town, and have had no problems. Had over 100+ visits to my town now, basically all from the forums.

I usually just let people into my town and observe from nearby to see how they act without having to be told "Don't do this, stay in that area, ask if you wish to do this," etc. Because if anyone starts doing something I don't like, I always remember it isn't permanent until you save. c:

Over wifi I feel like you have to build trust. Joining TBT & reading all the negative experiences people have with wifi only makes me more paranoid.. But to be honest, I've learned to let go & I've become more welcoming. I guess it just depends on the person you wifi with. Like everyone says, don't take it personally!
