What are some minor things you would add to AC to make it cuter or more spontaneous or logical?

Not major things like adding completely new features, just things you would change/add to make it more fun.

For one, remember how in almost all the games, when you start up, Rover, K.K. or Isabelle always greets you and tells you information about whats happening that day? I think a more logical way to go about this is when you start your game, instead of the weird dark room with the spotlight, they could make it you in first person in front of your door, and then you hear a knock and when it opens its Isabelle and she'll tell you stuff thats happening in town that day.

Idea in action: *Knock knock* "Hi mayor! I'm going door to door telling everyone about the new convenience store opening on Main Street today! Let me get you started." ((does the loading screen thingy)) "Have a good day!"

I like this door-to-door kind of theme much better than the creepy spotlight you see with Isabelle just standing there lol. Although it is kind of a recurring feature, so.

What other minor things would you make to future games?

Wow, that's a great idea! I've never actually heard anyone suggest that before, but it does sound better than the current system.

Another thing that'd be cute is if your villagers would post things to the bulletin board randomly. I imagine things like this:

**Lost**
Chocolate cake. Ate maybe half of it before it went missing. Please return. Very hungry.

thanks! And omg having villagers post things on the bulletin board like in Wild World was such a simple missed opportunity in NL. Really do hope it comes back for future games! And they could even make it like a rewards system kind of like the meow coupons sort of thing we have now, but with cool rare items or bells.

Love the ideas given so far. As I already mentioned somewhere recently, I really miss the flea markets of Wild World where all animals had their own sort of yard sale for the day. It was an event I found myself looking forward to, like you would a real garage sale I suppose.

I know this is kinda major, but I always wanted a feature where you can choose who you want to load up your game. It can either be a specific villager that's in your town, a specific special character, a random villager that's in your town or a random special character. If the specific villager moves out, it will switch to a random villager who will mention that the specific villager has moved out. Also, I never found the lobby, the dark room with a single light and wooden floor, creepy (well, maybe except for when you save in the first game, I dunno why but that always made me feel weird). Still, I like and prefer the idea of a character knocking on your door and loading the game up for you and giving you the news.

It'd be interesting if part of Rover's questionnaire at the beginning gave you a sort of villager preference for their different personalities - you could chose to have a more lazy-inclined town (ie random villagers that move in have a higher chance of being lazy) or a jock tow, etc. Basically like a sort of 'town vibe' like the town ordinances :)

more public works projects and for it to be easier to obtain ideas

i also miss the idea of having a town to donate to, like boondox from ww. it would be cool if you were able to visit that town though

That would be epic. Imagine if they swapped the default grass to dirt ratio so Boondox is mostly soil with only patches of grass. And most villagers only have sloppy furniture.

The catalog system across every Animal Crossing mainline game really needs to be improved. It's so rudimentary that you'll really need to painstakingly write a separate checklist to know which items you're missing, especially with the ever-increasing amount of stuff. These small improvements would've made a big difference to my enjoyment of the game.

The problem that persisted on every installment so far is that there's no way for the catalog to manually sort items by alphabetic order, times ordered, rarity, and/or sub-category (series, set, theme, color, size, etc.). Had the sorting feature added to the catalog, we wouldn't have to fiddle through on the types of item and hopefully stumble on whatever you're looking for.

Rather than solving the issue entirely, Animal Crossing: New Leaf band-aid this issue with the handy keyword-based search engine, but also took a step backwards in efficiency by permanently sorting every item in alphabetical order instead of the much more convenient series/set/theme.

Whenever I shop to any store, there's no way to know if I previously got the items available on there. I'm either stuck having consulting my real life checklist or simply buy everything. If only the game automatically label displayed items that I've already obtained, which would make for a much quicker shopping session when going for 100% completion on catalog.

Animal Crossing (GCN) and Animal Crossing: Wild World had the decency to track the number of items that I got at least once out of how many there are in the game. It's particularly satisfying to be able to tell how far I'm into item collecting, as it provides quite a great sense of accomplishment and progression. And for no particular reason, the later entries got rid of this useful little feature. Why not bring it back to the inevitable Switch installment?
