Minimal river size

Well, terraforming is really nice, but in thinking about it: Is there a minimal river size you need for a bridge?

Seems to be about 3 across and 3.x long from the one I built today!

You can jump over 1 and 2 tiles, and 3 is the minimum for bridges. Is the max 4 tiles?
