March 15: Building Bridges
I wake up unusually early this morning. After a quick trip out of town to order some breakfast (I had a giant apple pancake in case you're interested), I rush over to the Town Hall.
Isabelle had already completed a lot of paperwork. Despite this, there was a still a veritable mountain of things to be done. I expected this from such a large-scale project, but it's still very tedious.
Part of the reason for such a heavy workload is that we strive to complete this project in record time. The
Robin Bridge Initiative, as it is now being called, has since expanded from a single bridge to a complete renovation of Fireleaf's infrastructure. It was quickly apparent that a new bridge, located close by, would have to be constructed before we would be able to demolish our current one. In addition, Gruff once again brought up his plans to make transport easier to and from the eastern beach. It was eventually decided that three bridges were to be constructed. Such a project has never been attempted before by Fireleaf, so this will not only test our construction capabilities, but also my very position as Mayor.
In only a single day, we are already about to begin construction on our first bridge. Let's hope we are able to keep up this breakneck pace.
This project is also having the effect of increased support by my fellow villagers. It seems that for the first time in quite a while, all of Fireleaf is united on a single issue.
Aw, thank you Bertha.
After a lot of searching we finally found our first spot.
And there we go! It will take a while to collect funds, but the end result will be well worth it.
Truffles has now settled into Fireleaf quite well.
Interesting. Truffles moved here from Treetop, yet she talks about living in a town called Honeydew. I didn't know villagers remembered more than one town.
Hours later, I have finished my work at last. It's getting dark and I still have so much other stuff to get done!
The Motherly Statue has arrived safely in my mailbox. I am relieved to see it is still in perfect condition.
Let's hope Blathers accepts it into his collection...
I decide to check it out as soon as Blathers is done with the exhibit.
Ah, it's so nice to have a genuine Motherly Statue. I expected to wait years for this, yet it is right here in my Museum.
I meet Wart Jr. on my visit to T&T Mart.
Always nice to see what different villagers have to say about the store.
This looks like it will be fitting for spring. I might have to change my door, but other than that I think it will look fairly good.
Now that I'm done with errands, I can finally relax a little.
I like to watch the balloons float by. I don't like balloon furniture so I don't really need to shoot them down.
Looks like the bridge project has really inspired citizens to work extra hard to improve the town. Thanks again for being so helpful, Bertha.
I walk a few steps to the first villager I've seen sitting on a bench. It's nice to know my projects are already improving the lives of my neighbors.
We share a lovely moment together. Canberra has become quite a good friend over the time I have known her.
I didn't expect Moose to be such a connoisseur when it comes to this kind of stuff.
Sure, I'll sell it. If you want it that badly, I could just give it for free.
Literally the next conversation later...
I wont post the same conversation a second time. I end up selling him the butterfly. I now expect to soon hear Kid Cat and Moose fighting over which of these items is superior.
Kid Cat admiring his new friend. Looks like Moose is eavesdropping in the background.
There sure are a lot of balloons tonight.
That lychee tree is almost mature! It's only a matter of time before we have a steady source of island fruit.
Going to bed early tonight. Today has been quite a busy day for me.
