So I've recently decided to get into Melee. Sm4sh got boring to me after a while (still fun with friends though) so I took the plunge.

The issue is improvement though, since when it comes to getting into a game, you'd need a theoretical drill to get into the game, but melee takes it a step beyond and requires a theoretical thermal torch.
(It's really hard to get into.)

TL;DR - I've just started and I'm using Dolphing + Netplay. If there's anybody else who's relatively new to it and would be interested and playing a few games to get used to how it feels and improve together, feel free to hit me up.

Other people can use the thread to find other people of similar levels too if necessary c:

If my GC adapter wanted to work with my PC properly, I'd be interested at going at a few, I aint touched Melee for ages so I'd be really new to it again.

I just feel uncomfortable using an Xbox pad lmaoo

where are you located? tbh the best way to play melee is in a local scene. it's pretty easy to find a decent scene especially if you live near a college town or in a big city. I'd be down to netplay as long as the lag isn't unbearable.

I have the opportunity to play with a lot of people irl - the issue is that I'm kind of a shy dude and the last thing I wanna do is try to premier myself on something as potentially elitist as melee to a bunch of people I don't know without proper practice first.

This might not be the website to look for Melee practice because we even have trouble trying to set up tournaments for Smash 4 given the nature of this forum doesn't really seem that competitive.
Have you tried smashladder to look for netplay matches? I would love to do Melee netplay but I don't have a computer that could run Dolphin at the moment.
