I have 3 towns and only one mayor is named after me. In every other town I?ve ever created (apart from Gracey and Legend where I made a conscious effort not to do it) I have always named my Mayor Kimi. It helps me with immersion and also makes me feel like my villagers know the actual ME instead of just a random character. It only occurred to me that naming them all after myself might be a little conceited, lol.

So who else does this? How common is it to name your mayor after yourself? Why do you do it? And if you?re not one of those people, why do you NOT do it? It is just something I?m thinking about today.

I never use my real name or do I create characters based on myself in video games. I prefer to
create OC's and gave them names I like. It's just that I feel more comfortable that way.

i tend to just use my name yeah, it is me playing after all but considering i also stick to themes and aesthetics that i personally find appealing, i basically am just making a little version of myself whether i name my character after me or not.

I don't exactly use my real first name, but I do use my real nickname (which is a shortened version of my real one). It's just easier for me to keep track of; I do it in pokemon, too.
Sometimes, coming up with names is difficult--and I figure that if the character is supposed to be "me", then it should be named similarly. Once again, it's just easier for me to keep track of it ': D

I've always name my character after myself, including in all other games that I play. It just feel more natural to me and I am the one playing the game, so it only seems right to name my character after me. I also make her look close to me as I can too. Though I do remember one time my dad asking me why I do name my characters after myself. I don't think I ever responded. :o

At first I named the mayor after myself but then I realized it's a little more fun for me to have her, or him, named something other than my real name. There's mayor Junie of Eureka. She got her name from a childhood nickname I had. I used to love Junie B. Jones (I still do!) and I looked like her when I was little, and the principal started to call me Junie B.... I was in his office a lot.

My nickname is Lyn and I don't really know where "?a" came from but my mayor's name is literally a nickname of a nickname. I have an alternate town where the town name is Faune and the mayor is Fleur, which are French for wildlife and flower. I like mayor names and town names that go together! :)

I never give my mayors my real name.To me,it's a video game and it has nothing to do with real life.Besides,I can think of much better names to give my mayors than my own name.Sometimes I name a mayor to fit the town they're in.For example,I have a duck town so I named my mayor Daffy.Sometimes I'll name a mayor after somebody I respect.I have a mayor named Gilda because of the late comedienne Gilda Radner.

I have to admit that the thought of using my own name doesn't really excite me lol. I too like to try to name my Mayor to fit my town theme, or failing that after any favorite names that I wish my mother had had the good sense to name me lol, or after that any favorite entertainers names.
My usernames are usually based on how I'm feeling at that moment when they are being created, hence the name Cheery Delight.

I have done this with most games or things which requires a username, though I did use my real name once upon a time, until I figured out I didn't have to LOL.
So of course I voted no !!!

I choose mayor names that start with the same letter as mine and try to make it represent me without it being a completely different person! Like its still me, but an alter-ego of me if that makes sense. That way I can still feel like myself but represent a different part of me in each of my towns.

In every game except my second New Leaf town, I've either named myself Amelia, Amy, or Mimi (All nicknames I've gone by irl). The only reason my second town's mayor is named Snoozy is because I'm going with a general sleep theme! And idk, I thought it was cute at the time, I'm not super in love with it right now but I don't hate it lol.

For animal crossing games my ?main town? mayor, whether male or female, is always named after my nickname Jules. Although if I?m making a themed town where I don?t want any character to resemble me, I?ll make up character names that works for the theme. My town Tinytree is a town where I kind of picture myself living in real life, so I named my mayor after myself. But my second Borei has made up names. However, for any game that?s NOT animal crossing where I have to make a profile, I?m always ?dizzy?.

Yes I always name my mayor either my first name, middle name, or a nickname. It's kind of weird but if I don't name my mayor after myself I feel really disconnected from my town, I feel like it's not me playing the game.

This is me with my main town. Themed towns are different, but Fujimori is a place I would like to live, so I’m the mayor and making it exactly how I want it to be!

I have not named my mayor after my personal name, but my internet alias. I personally prefer to have a separation between the two for the sake of privacy. Also, my name is lame; why not have a name I like more instead? :lemon:

I never use my real name for anything on the internet or in games. First of all, I prefer the privacy of not using my real name. Secondly, I don't have any real attachment to my real name. I don't hate it or anything, but it's just a name that my parents gave me. I don't have strong associations with it and if given the choice it wouldn't even make a top 100 list of names I would have picked for myself.

I have been using the internet handle LadyDestani since all the way back to the good old AOL days. It's a name that I'm much more likely to associate with myself than my real name. So whenever I start up a game and don't have a clear image, theme, or direction for the character, I usually just name her Destani. And I never make the character look like me, either. Brown hair, brown eyes and pale skin are boring to me in a game with so many other choices. I pick a look based on what I find aestetically pleasing at the time.

But I also love creating characters and I have the bad habit of making way too many alts when I play MMO's. So most of the time, I just create an OC in my mind and pick a name, appearance, and personality for the character that match the image in my head. I still feel very connected to these characters even if we don't share any attributes because I created them, so they are a part of me in that way. I know that probably sounds weird, but it's just how I am.

I did too until I decided to do a second town so I could do things like streetpass then I chose another name - Hannah, because I like it but also because the way the game pronounces it it almost sounds normal... Same for Mandala, my first town that I don’t play anymore is named Ashbury and my God, but listening to them say assbury for two years got kind of old so choosing something that they can pronounce was a big deal for me.

I never have any of my mayors have my actual name, I never make my mayors look like me and I don't name my towns after any real life places.

My mayors and alts are all separate people with their own personality. Kasumi is kind and motherly, Jerico is sassy and sarcastic, Marisol is laid back ect... I don't like my real name, nor are any of my nickname interesting. The only mayor who could even slightly resemble me is Kasumi in terms of looks since she has brown hair. In terms of personality, Jerico and Liyetta. But other then that my characters all have unique looks.

Jerico is a bit different. I chose that name first as a name for my spin off series character Jerico. Then I started using it for other games outside of AC since I loved the name so much. Eventually I decided to use it in place of my own name, such as online and artist/pen name.
