Maybe stupid question: Are the servers still live?

I ordered AC NF to eventually play once my hype for NH is fading and one thing I can't find a good answer on is the status of the servers.
Yes, the shop is down and you can't buy the game digitally but can you still play online? Did I miss that information? I feel rather stupid :-D haha

hello! the servers are still live which means you can still play online as much as you want! in comparison to NH you dont even need an online membership to do so!

You can still play this and other 3DS games online, the closing of the 3DS and Wii U eShops is unrelated. However, at this point you'd only really want to play New Leaf online with players you know and/or trust. Considering the hacker issues that have befallen Club Tortimer as discussed in this thread, you probably shouldn't risk going to Club Tortimer. You can still visit Tortimer Island by yourself or with local friends who are visiting your town though, that's safe.

You should be fine if you play with other members of the forums here if there are any members who still play, and there is a Feedback system here on the forums where you can give Positive, Negative, or Neutral ratings in case you do have a bad experience where someone misbehaves.

Undetermined. They might be phased out in the future, but there have been no announcements of such being planned.

That's fine - when I start playing NL, I'd tell here anyways and go online with people from here.

So we don't know when servers will close? (it's not as if AC would cost them much traffic to begin with).

I dont know when the servers will shut down as other people have confirmed my knowledge of the servers staying alive but I know that recently there have been many connection issues with the 3DS and Wii U (specifically 001-0502) as Nintendo closed one of the servers so your console may not connect without a reboot. I have ran into this problem many many times but it is explained in much greater detail in this Reddit post.
