Master list for gifts for villagers

Someone please explain how the gift-giving system works in animal Crossing New horizons? I know what you have to be a certain friendship level to actually give gifts to villagers. I'm curious as to what kind of gifts they like.
I might be really simple but I'm still not really sure how all the gift-giving works. I think every item has a kind of tag on it denoting what kind of style it is. And I know some villagers actually prefer one style over the other.

does anyone know where I can find a master list of all the tagged items to give?

I don't have a master list on hand, but I know quite a few people who were giving iron wall lamps as gifts, as they are easy to craft and worth quite a bit, and I believe (not entirely certain) that the villagers also don't use them to decorate.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear about what I meant! I meant like clothing items and junk like that!
I I was watching videos and seeing Raymond in a maid dress and he seemed to be wearing it more often than not. so I was wondering if there's something in that item that says hey I should wear this more often.

Nookplaza has a really useful tool where it gives you the villager's favorite color, style and potential gifts. Not a master list because of the massive amount of clothes, but it should fit your needs.

i have noticed that they seem to really like crafted items like wreaths and crowns. i gave patty a pansy crown for her birthday and she was ecstatic and she wears it constantly. and everyone i gave a wreath/doorplate to loved it

i went on nookplaza and i see where it gives their color and style but no list of gifts, where is that at? nvm i found it

There is an app called ACNH.Guide (which was suggested in this forum) that I downloaded yesterday. You can look at any villagers “favorite gifts”. It tells you their favorite colors and what style they like. It lists all kinds of clothing items they prefer. I have also used a site called: nook plaza.net (all one word) you can type in a villager name then tap “find something magical “ and it will suggest clothing items.

If you get the ACNH.Guide app for your irl phone it will tell you villager's favorite gifts! Its really convent too because you can compile all your villagers onto a list and check their fav gifts from there so you are not individually looking up each villager every time, if that makes sense.

Just to confirm I’ve crafted what must be close to 100 iron wall lamps at this point & given them all as gifts to my villagers & none of them have ever actually placed one in their home or altered their original room decor in any way.

For that it's style, for example, Julian likes "Gorgeous" style items. Every item has a primary (and usually but not always secondary) style and color. As you can see on Nookapedia in this link the iron wall lamp can either be black/black or white/white (primary and secondary colors are the same) and has the themes "Living room/garage" whereas a shell table has 7 different color variations (although each has prim. and second. the same) and has the theme "ocean"
