Why does everyone seem to like him. I had him in my town and was kinda happy when he wanted to go.

He's cute, has a really weird mouth and seems to be a bit cranky while looking like a marshmallow.
I think that's more than enough for everyone
I have him but I'm not that much of a fan - but he is cute and nice.

Some people like him for the same reason other people like other villagers: personal preference. Some people find him cute, some don't. It's all a matter of opinion. Just like how we all like different colours or different foods.

Ehhhh, I don't know, I'm extremely partial to white and pastel colored villagers (woot, Diana, Ruby, Merengue, Marshal). Marshal is so tiny as well, and has a tsundere face to boot. Aside from that, I find smug personalities adorable and the tail animation of squirrels is so cute in my opinion * ^*

Again, it's all personal preference, other people don't like small villagers and whatnot~ so it's really up to you ^-^

I'm pretty sure the reason people like him is because of the contrast of his extremely grumpy, sarcastic-looking expression on a cute, fluffy squirrel. It's funny. I don't care for him much myself though.

He's moving into my main today, but I like him. I think he's adorable. But I also just love the smug personality which some people seem to hate. I have two smugs already and I think they are fabulous! I'm not keeping him on my main, but I am keeping him. Though in all actuality I don't understand why people keep making these threads for top tier villagers. Just because you don't personally like someone doesn't mean other people can't. He's top tier because a lot of people decided they liked him and started looking for him. That's how the tiers are generated.

If you question why a certain villager is popular,then the best way to get an answer is to find out for yourself.Visit a dream town with the villager in question or ask someone who already has that villager if you can visit them.That's what I did when I was curious about Marshal.Hippeaux(!) had moved from my town and I was due another smug and I'd seen a lot of people talking about this Marshal character,so I went to a dream town to experience Marshal for myself(I think I still have the screenshots of my visit).I wound up liking him and he's been in my town ever since.

I have Marshal in my town and I love him a lot, he's totally adorable. His grumpy expression is so cute X3 But I've seen lots of people who don't like him at all. Maybe he just seems dull to some people.
