Marshal...

When I first joined up on this website, I was blissfully unaware of Marshal's extreme popularity. I would browse around the forums and see him in everyone's dreamie list, and how much and how far they would go and pay to achieve him.

But now, I feel like Marshal is just used as an auction tool. I don't feel he is NEARLY as strongly desired as before. Maybe it's because people have achieved him? Or he's too expensive? Idk. I even noticed that there are a GAZILLION Marshal auction threads now on Villager Trading Plaza, whereas before you'd be lucky to find one because nobody would even think about giving him up. I think his bump down to #2 on the villager popularity makes sense in light of this, and I even see him going down the list in the future.

Oh, and PLEASE DON'T COMMENT SAYING 'Not another one of these threads'. Because it's not. And half the time it never is. So stahp.

It really is. Marshal is just a villager who's been desired and achieved, nothing more, nothing less.

i feel as if everyone has already obtained marshal, he really isn't that hard to come by anymore and more than half the people on this forum have him in their sig (guilty as charged)

I reset my town.

he's pretty hard to come by when Ii was resetting.
I got practically all of the smug villagers except for him..

I really do want marshal though, he was my absolute 1st choice as a smug, but I also grew to love julian {my main town's default smug}

Though I think that a lot of people do use him as a tool to reel in tons of bells in auctions.

i actually understand this because in my second town i was resetting smugs for 2 hours before i finally got marshal's house plot for my bf :/ it's like the popular villagers know that they're popular and they refuse to show up for you

yea I do feel you're right that a lot of people achieved him... I got him half a year ago, and back then it was sooo hard to find a Marshal auction, and when there was one they'd go up extremely high/be bought out almost all the time..

now I mean... he's still popular but def. not as much as he once was

It goes to show that nothing lasts forever... he kinda reminds me of a celebrity. Popular in his days, but eventually fizzles out like a fad over time.

I am guilty for using him for auctions though, and I plan on doing it again when he comes to my cycle town. I feel bad taking people's hard earned bells over a little ball of white pixels, but I may need the money for my new town as I just restarted.

Yeah he's definitely an auction tool! I initially reset for him to auction him off, but he never asked to move and I was lazy. I'm not as attached to him as I am Julian, but I haven't thought of another male villager to replace him.

I also got him without resetting in my second town, and I traded him for Diana! So maybe he's turning into some kind of currency. I don't know.

The only reason I got him was because while I was plot resetting for Julian, he showed up. He's a really cute squirrel, so I considered. Now when I look at my sig, I'm surprised at how easily I got most of my villagers.
