It's because you're trying to sell an unoriginal villager for over 100 TBT lol. You can get original tier 1 villagers for less than 100 on cycling threads tbh

I don't really get it either but, whatever. I mean admittedly if I lost my Diana and had to try to get her again, I'd want an original one, but that's literally only because her original house is so beautiful inside. House aside her clothes are her choice, and I can indirectly influence her choice of attire easily. /shrug

I suspect it's OCD and aesthetics more than anything. People treat this game like it's something far more serious than it really is haha.

A lot of people don't want the villagers houses to be messed up. One time I adopted Freya and like half the furniture in her house was gone. They also prefer villagers not have really unaesthetic clothes.

No, it's easy. Remove the clothing patterns from the store, fill up Re-Tail with items, and don't give them random items and they won't change anything.
