A big thank you to this thread and those who manage it for the inspiration!

I've noticed that pokemon trading/selling is reasonably popular in this forum as of late. Therefore, I thought it might be a good idea for those who are involved in it to come up with a community guideline for the values of various pokemon to prevent people who are new or inexperienced with the forums from being over/under charged for pokemon.

So, with that in mind I'd like to ask you for help with creating this guideline. Please give as much detail you can on what pokemon you sold or bought (and for what price) including if it's shiny, has good IVs, has a hidden ability, if it's a legendary, an event or in a rare ball! Include any other information which you believe might have an impact on the value of this pokemon such as egg moves, low gender ratio or anything you can think of! If requested I can also keep a list of common events/pokemon which people are asking for as of late and what price they have paid for them.

If you have a trade shop or are an experienced pokemon breeder/collector then please let us know the prices you use in your shop and link us to it.

In terms of pokemon which are listed in this thread, there are several factors which are included in our measurement of what price that pokemon should be. This is a list of the factors which we are currently using, but if there are other things which you feel would make a pokemon potentially worth more BTB then please let us know so that we can include it in this list.

IVs: Pokemon with six perfect IVs are valuable not only for competitive playing, but also for breeding. In particular Dittos with a decent number of IVs are valuable for breeding.

Natures: A Pokemon with a good nature for it's move-pool and ability is more valuable for competitve playing and breeding. Like with IVs, Dittos with a nature which is ideal for popular competitive Pokemon (such as a Modest or Timid nature for a Special attcker) are valuable.

Abilities: A Pokemon with a rare hidden ability is more valuable than one without it, unless the Pokemon is bred for competitive purposes and this ability is not it's ideal one. A Pokemon with it's 'best' ability for it's move-pool and role in battle is more valuable than one without it for competitive play.

Egg Moves: Another factor which can make a Pokemon valuable is if it has egg moves. The harder the move is to obtain (such as a move which must be chain-bred) the more valuable it is.

Pokeball: Some Pokemon are in rare Pokeballs which can't be obtained in the current gen. These make the Pokemon more valuable for collectors, especially if female since the can pass their Pokeball on to their offspring.

Gender: If the Pokemon is a rare Gender (for example, a female Snivy) they can be more valuable.

Evolution requirements: Certain Pokemon require a stone or item to level up. If this is the case then it will likely cost you extra if you want the evolution item included with the Pokemon or if you want it already evolved.

Level: While this isn't necessarily something which is as important as IVs or Natures, levelling up can be a pain and it is much easier to buy a Pokemon which is fully levelled and ready for battle than to level one up yourself. Higher level Pokemon which are competitive (especially those with a slow rate of levelling) are often more expensive than low level competitive Pokemon.

EVs: The same reason for levels; EV training can be a pain and it's much easier if your Pokemon is already EV trainned since it spares you the trouble of doing it yourself.

Shinies: Shiny Pokemon are exceptionally rare, thus making them more valuable than their normal coloured counterparts.

Legendaries: Again, these are rare and many can only be caught once per game or are only available through trading from previous gens.

Events: Certain Pokemon are only obtainable through events which were run in specific places for a limited time.

Ribbons: Not exactly something which is often sought after, but rarely it comes up. Pokemon which have difficult to obtain, or rare, ribbons can have extra value for having those ribbons.

IG Obtainability: Certain Pokemon can't be caught in the current gen of games. These Pokemon are worth slightly more than the Pokemon which can be caught in the current gen due to their slightly harder difficulty in obtaining.

This section is incomplete due to me still researching the prices which have been paid for Pokemon in this forum. Please bear with me and the others working on this thread while we fix it up. The values listed here currently should not be used for measurement as they are meerly place-holders until the real prices are worked out.

Base Price: 1-2 BTB for a normal pokemon with nothing added on.

IVs: +2 BTB per perfect IV.

Natures: + 2 BTB for a good nature

Abilities: + 2 BTB for a good ability, +3-5 BTB for a Hidden Ability depending on rarity.

Egg Moves: + 1-2 BTB per egg move (up to 4-8 BTB for four egg moves), + 3 BTB per chain-bred egg move

Pokeball: + 3-5 BTB for a female Pokemon in a ball unavailable in the current gen, +1-2 BTB for a male Pokemon in a ball unavailable in the current gen. + 1 BTB for a Pokemon in a 'helpful' ball (such as a Luxury Ball)

Gender: +3-5 BTB for Pokemon for which the gender ratio is low.

Evolution requirements: + 1-6 BTB per item required for evolution, depending on rarity and obtainability (for example, a fire stone in XY is available all the time in the stone shop but a Dawn Stone is not making it more valuable)

Level: +3-6 BTB per five levels depending on rate of levelling.

EVs: +5 BTB for a Pokemon which is fully EV trainned in the EVs which compliment it's battle role.

Shinies: +30-50 BTB for trophy shinies.

Legendaries: A base price of 30-50 BTB for Legendaries depending on rarity, an extra 20-30 BTB should be added to the price if they are a shiny legendary.

Events: 30-70 BTB base price, depending on rarity.

Ribbons: +1-5 BTB depending on rarity and if desired.

IG Obtainability: +1 BTB if the Pokemon is difficult, or not possible, to obtain in the current gen's games without having been traded up from a previous game (and then bred in the current gen and distributed.)

Much like the Market Price Summary of Collectibles thread, we will use the method which SkyFall and Lassy used. A range of the highest sales and the lowest sales, but we will rule out excessively high and low values which would skew the prices. While we can't put an excact price on every single Pokemon and possible combinations of IVs, abilities etc. we can try to work out a system of base values for Pokemon and add on any 'extras' which would raise the price from there.

Sales done in the forum should be reported to this thread by either the seller or the buyer if they wish to contribute to the price guide. Sales done through PM/VM can only be included if some form of proof is given that the values quoted are correct. They will not be included by default since we have no way of viewing them.
