The Rules Have Changed!​

As you click onto this thread you're probably thinking "Mario Party 9? Isn't this that one franchise that got boring and repetitive after the 3rd one?". Well lucky for you and everyone else Nintendo has changed it up a bunch! The core of the game: Minigames still prevails but other then that everything has changed. No longer do you walk around the board yourself, instead everyone is together in a vehicle.

From there everyone takes turns being the captain which means you take control of the vehicle. That involves rolling the die, choosing the path your team takes, getting bonuses from landing on spaces and choosing which mini-game you play. The game is already out in Europe and comes out this Sunday in North America. For more information checkout the videos below:

I'm kind of excited. This looks like it'll be better than Mario Party 8, which, imo wasn't all that good.

I kinda plan on getting it on release day, and off from what I know about it so far, it's gonna be very fun, but the characters walking on the boards is fun than having them all together, but it's gonna be nice to try something new. In the trailer it seems that the coins are gone and you collect "mini stars" and Peach gets pulled out of the car by a Piranha Plant and for a few seconds of the trailer she was walking on green spaces inside a cave on her own.

Yeah for real Mario Party 8 was a disappointment. I'm kind of sad that this game doesn't have any classic mode like the old Mario Parties but after 8 I can admit that it's probably good they didn't.

It's already out in Europe? Alright, I haven't played a new game for quite some time now, so this should do.

I've already seen a few let's plays for Mario Party 9 from RPG and it looks really fun (and a lot better than 8). It's good to see that Nintendo is still doing things with the Wii.

I'm feeling more excited as the release date gets closer for North America. I really should pre-order it or put it on hold at Gamestop.

I live in Europe, were the game came out on 2 March, and I have it, it's a really nice game!

Does it seem like there are a lot less minigames this go-round? The whole "80 New Minigames" includes the boss battle and Bowser Junior battles. I don't know, but it just doesn't seem like it lived up to the small hype surrounding it.
