Just wondering what everyone thinks of maps with narrow strips of lands (vertical or horizontal)? :) Do you like them or dislike them? Does your map have them? If yes, how did you landscape those small areas? If no, what would you do with them? Feel free to share some pictures or landscaping tips!

I personally don't mind them. I have two small horizontal strips of land at the top of my map (my river is kind of shapped like a U). Both of those areas have a path lined with flowers that leads to the end of the map (ocean on the left, wall/cliff on the right). I put a lighthouse on the left and am planning on putting a windmill on the right. And maybe add a cedar forest... I haven't quite finished landscaping those areas so I won't post pictures yet, but hopefully it'll look nice when I'm done. :)

Your map sounds exactly the same as the one in my boyfriends town. He placed his house in the left strip of land and the right strip has a fruit orchard. It's actually quite nice.

I can't even begin to picture that... I'd probably set up my house or a side's house in there (if you don't want any villagers or PWPs there) to take up that space then landscape it with nice paths, some flowers.

I have one on the right. I put Resetti there and also have my perfect cherry orchard. I like it. :)

I saw a dream town with a very similar map to mine, and they did have a villager where it widens out. It would be okay with that. It looked nice.

As you can see on the map in my signature, there is a villager house in one area and in the other area is my campsite :) I planted trees and flowers on the right side, and on the left side is a round topiary PWP and also flowers :)

I really dislike them, my map doesn't have any, (i hate when villager plot on the small strips)

That is my EXACT map! Except I don't hae a big ball of water in my river it's just straight so I have a bridge built on the bottom half too Lol!

I really like your map! It almost looks like my map, except mine isn't a perfect U shape. It's half a U on the left and the other half goes to the right, then up, then right again. I need to post a picture of my map...

Carina, doesn't it feel too cramped to have a house or campsite up there? I think I might put a secondary character house there, if I ever make one.

I don't mind them! My old town had a U shaped river and I liked it, but it bothered me when villagers moved in and all crowded around my mayors house which made placing a bridge there impossible. D:
I have a little strip of land at the bottom of my current map and I've put the campsite and my orchard there. It works really well!

On the image you can see I have two narrow strips of land on both sides. I've put up a few PWPs to prevent villagers from plotting although they still manage to do it anyway. On the left side is an orchard where a villager would often destroy it and the right side has two PWPs spread apart so it's a given they'll plot there too.

I have one, I made a path with all the different fruits lining it and it leads to a perfect apple orchard with an area I use to grow hybrids. It's also where I plot my 4th villager house when I'm resetting for villager house locations.

I have one on the upper left side in my town, doesn't really bother me. I just planted a few flowers around there.

I think it doesn't, but I think it's personal preference! :)

That's how my map looks like, except it's flipped. :) PWP

I have a pretty narrow strip of land running through the middle of my map:

I've learned to love it though. I like it because it's completely surrounded by water and it'd be a really nice place to be irl. I don't really have that much trouble with PWP spacing.

I have 2 narrow strips of land in one of my towns (Jayhawk). There is one up along the train tracks with a rock. I have a bench there now, but want to put the picnic blanket there when a villagers suggets it (no Uchi in town atm). I also have a narrow strip that runs along the cliff wall behind my house. I've put several streetlights along there to keep villagers from moving in that area. I then have planted one of each kind of fruit tree, so if a villager sets their plot down on top of any of my other fruit trees, I can still get any fruit I need for a villager favor. I made the mistake of doing this without the streetlights there at the beginning and Rory came and took out several of my trees. Had to wait for him to finally move out so I could do what I should have done from the begining.

Hmmm.. They are ok and at the same time not. If they are too narrow you can't do much with them and it just eats up space in your town. If they are big enough though, you can make it look very fancy by putting projects/paths/your house there haha.

I have some on my map. I am just learning to work with it, because I am kind of too lazy to reset. I imagine once I build a campsite or park bench with trees with wont be too bad.Map.jpg

I LOVE narrow strips of land, I just think they look super cute with pathways and there's just so much you can do with them. My town literally only has narrow strips, there's not really any large bits of empty land and I love it, the town just feels busy and my villagers explore every single bit of the town which I love, I had a really spacious town before this one and they tended to just keep to one corner of the map and it drove me crazy.

That sounds awesome! :) Unfortunately my villagers never visit the small strips of land... then again they all live far away from it.
