I've noticed that since new leaf gave me the option to pick a map I've became really picky.
When I didn't have new leaf I chose the first map I saw.

I wouldn't call myself 'map picky', in the sense that I work around what I have.
However, I definitely didn't choose the first map I got, I chose my 4th or 5th.

I was never picky about my map until NL. I used to take any map as long as I had good villagers. And I didn't care about where they lived. OH THE OLD DAYS.

I've always been map picky. With New Leaf though, I was extremely more map picky than I was in previous installments.

I'd never properly played before ACNL but I'm not picky about stuff like maps. I actually enjoy the challenge of a map that isn't perfect.

Nah, it seriously doesn't matter to me.. It's cool to have a nice map, but I wouldn't reset like a week for it :D

I'm the same way! There's so much that I dislike about my town layout, but it has been fun learning to work around it. I'd feel bored if I was picky with my town and tried to find the "perfect" layout.

I understand resetting for a nice layout or even villagers, but I really don't understand being picky about tiny details like grass type or native fruit or even the town hall/station roof color. I mean... surely you're just going to remodel those buildings at some point anyway? That I don't get.

In Wild World, I reset the map maybe 3 times and gave up. I only interacted with the villagers that I liked and ignored the rest.

In New Leaf, with the introduction of public work projects and my projected plans, I reset the map many times before settling down. Also due to PWPs, I became picky about villager house placements. That in turn made me picky about which villagers to have, since plot resetting is such a pain.

Overall, I blame PWPs for my pickiness. :p

I have certain things I like in a map, but I'm otherwise pretty lax. I can't be fussed about resetting for Train Station color, grass shape, or native fruit.

When I first got New Leaf, just after the release, I knew a tiiiiiny amount about what made a map "good". Mostly having a decently straight river. Based on that, I chose my first town's map from the first set of options Rover gave me. I still love it to this day. <3

(Villager placements haven't been updated in a while...)

After a few months, and after joining the forums, I learned about resetting to see more map options and having buildings clustered together and ponds and that sort of thing. I reset for my second town's map for maybe 10 minutes. There are a handful of things I wish were different (Retail being closer to the Train Station, that big pond being somewhat in the way, ridiculous rock placement), but it's pretty close to being my "ideal" map.

(Villager placement is out of date here too, imagine that.)

My third town is a resetting town. So I have a new map every few weeks or so. xD; It's fun being able to try out different map layouts and see different fruits growing everywhere.

I have literally reset m town well over twenty times because I start disliking something about the map or layout...

I care about my map, but I've found a nice one after 2 times. The map isn't the problem, the villagers are. If I had Frank, Cesar, or someone else that I hated, I restarted. It took me 6 hours to have the perfect villagers, but I didn't feel like my town so I started over again. After hours of resetting, I realized that you can switch your villagers in.. It's nice to have great starters, but It's not neccesary. I've started with: Bertha, Cesar, Broffina, Stitches, and Biff. They are meh, but some nice villagers moved in and Beoffina moved out so yeah. I don't know if I have the perfect map. But I enjoy it. Retail and townhall next to eachother and plaza and campingsite in the south. Villagers are spreaded everywhere. I didn't care about my map first. I do now.

Cesar is in boxes now, so only Greta and Rocket need to move out

map picky, nope, villager picky, yea... in previous ac games I just let villagers come and go as they pleased, but now that they plop their houses wherever I have to be picky so that I don't spend hours resetting for some unwanted villager to put their house in a good spot :(

Yes, definitely. I used to only care about the villagers that were in my town, and didn't really care at all about the layout of the actual town. Now if I were to reset, I'd be the complete opposite :P
