Anyone got some great tips or recommdations for makeup that changed your life? c: I haven’t been in the makeup scene for long because it feels so overwhelming that I don’t know where to start… my makeup is so light and simple that it’s barely visible sometimes hehe 😭 Also I saw some people with glistening skin, the shimmering kind, and I would love to do that for myself!

Anyway, share your tips or recos in general! Would love to see how you all do your makeup!

this might be an obvious one (i dont know because i still don't think i'm super knowledgeable in makeup although i wear it pretty much every day) but for me it was making the switch from black eyeliner to brown! i felt that black was too bold and intense for me and when i first tried brown eyeliner, everything looked soo much softer and i've used it for years ever since. i tried black eyeliner again a couple weeks ago and still didn't like how it looked on me. i ended up taking it off right away and putting on brown.

i've been watching some makeup videos recently on how to do the face stuff. i especially want to learn blush placement and contour for my face shape but i feel like i can never get it right whenever i try, the contour doesn't seem to make a difference 🥲

Not makeup, but more skincare: it was finding the right sunscreen that didn't pill when I applied my foundation and that took me awhile. I found a lot of the sunscreens in my drugstores to be trash. The one that works well for my skin and makeup is COSRX. Same thing for mascara especially western mascara are terrible. I tried on so many and they keep uncurling my lashes which is so, so frustrating. So I will only use canmake or kissme mascaras.

If you feel overwhelmed, the one and done type of look is always cute and easy. You just need two eyeshadows: base and topper. I don't know if you ever tried the Urban Decay 24/7 moon dust eyeshadow singles, those are really nice and glittery. I will just pop on a brown eyeshadow and then a topper, mascara, light foundation and some lip gloss. It's my travel/grocery shopping look, haha. Moira has some good glitters and it looks like they're having a sale.

As for the dewy skin looks; you can create the effect with a beauty blender/sponge dupe + liquid foundation. There's also bronzing drops, glowy skin tints or just using a highlighter. It'd be dependent on your skin type too. I personally avoid those because I have oily skin, so you're gonna hafta research those more.

I highly recommend watching Robert Welsh on YouTube. I started by watching his reaction to MUA influencer's makeup routine and he always had invaluable information.

I'm not the best with makeup so someone can correct me but I'd say if it looks so light that it looks like you're not wearing any, look for something more full coverage-- definitely don't apply more makeup on. For the shiny looking skin, you can either find a more dewy foundation or you can apply highlighter. I've seen some use their most dewy foundation combined with their most matte powder and applied it in a way to show off their glistening skin (or something like that).
