Mail Saved From Other Town???

Hey, I have a weird thing that may or may not be a glitch going on in Shokushu. My little sister's town, Derp, was erased so she could start a new town. However, when I went to go save a letter at the post office, I found letters that were addressed to her from her villagers? How and why did this happen? Is it a streetpass thing?

I haven't had any experience with this in New Leaf. But, in the Game Cube version, you could save letters, then restart the town and the letters would still be there as long as you used the same memory card. So maybe there's something like that going on in New Leaf if the same DS and/or the same SD card is used for both the old and the new town? Other than that, I have no idea.

If it really bothers you, you could always contact Nintendo to see if they know.
