Guys, what do I do? Isabelle was making her morning announcements and she said Mac is moving out. But he never spoke to me about it. I played the game all day for the last two days and he never once even had a thought bubble above his head, and he never mentioned moving. Yet when I spoke to him today he said he's taking my advice and moving? Is this a glitch? He'll be gone by tomorrow and I can't stop it. And worst of all, he was the VERY FIRST RESIDENT I ever spoke to! I would NEVER allow him to move! I'm gutted, I don't know what to do :(

Tried time travelling to the day before. He's still moving. Is there any way a resident can move back one day?

did you see my reply on the other thread? You should not time travel. Moving to a different day while he is in boxes, no matter whether forwards or backwards, will likely result in him moving out for good.

You're telling me there's no chance he'll ever move back in??

FYI time traveling would include moving back to the present day if you have already gone back a day and he is in boxes. And you can move in A Mac once he is gone but it won’t be the same one, in the sense of remembering you, friendship level, etc.

my suggestion is get a friend to come ask him to move to their island, then you guys can move him back. if no friends can do this go to the new neighbors network forum. there is a thread there for people reseting and looking for people to hold on to their villager when they do. hopefully one of them will grab mac for you then help move him back in

Well, as long as a Mac moves back in. All I want to know is, is it possible for a different Mac to eventually move in again? I can just befriend the new Mac and get him to call me the same nickname, etc.

I don't have any friends. But I do appreciate the advice :)

then you should ask someone here to grab him, then dont leave that day before someone does

I believe that there are some kind people here who can hold your villager. Kindly visit this thread for more information. I am sorry this happened to you. :(

I'm screwed. I can't create a new user profile on my switch. It never logs out of my original profile and there's no sign out option. So I can't create a second profile for a second playable character.

Thank you so much, I'll try this.

On the day they say they have decided to move away you can use another character on your island (if you don't have one you can create one then delete it later) to ask them to stay, however on the next day when they are in boxes unfortunately there isn't anything you can do to reverse the move. When you timetravelled a day before even though it's backwards in this case it counts as a new day so he went into boxes. If this happens again in the future just create a new character and tell them to stay.

As others have mentioned someone here may be able to hold him for you, you can keep changing your time to the same day but after 5am to extend the amount of time you have to find someone who can hold him for you. If you can't find someone to hold him for you and just want a Mac, once he moves out you can go on mystery islands to find him or adopt him from someone.

You don't have to sign out. Go to "System Settings" then "Users" then "Add User".

Yeah, I just realised that a moment ago. My bad lol

Just I've never had to create a new user, and I googled it and was misinformed that you had to sign out first, which is obviously bull. I've made one now, so I'll let you guys know how it goes with Mac.

Oh well. I created a new playable character, flew to the island, and now Mac's plot is available. He's gone. Nothing I can do now. :(

It's a blessing in disguise. Now I get the "call resident" app and can swim in the water. I'm guessing that's because someone finally visited my island (me as another user). Hopefully another Mac will come and live here, but my original Mac is gone forever. Maybe the new Mac will talk about something other than workout out all the time. He was annoying, but I let him get away with it because he was a dog. Nowhere near as annoying as Rory the lion from New Leaf.... he never shut up about working out either.

Just start printing tickets and store them in your extra character house. Wish you the best of luck at finding Mac again. I ran into my former villagers at least 50 times now when I go on villager hunts.

Unfortunately, every villager can only have one specific personality so even if you get a new Mac he will still have the same obsession with working out. And if you then make him call you by the same nickname, you honestly won't be able to tell that he was gone for a while!

Wishing you good luck with finding him again.

glad you’ve taken such a positive view. You might even be able to find Mac from someone here, by posting on the ‘looking for’ thread in the New Neighbors forum.

sounds like your game had not updated for awhile, if swimming just got added. It’s great you are going to get some fun new features to play with.

another upside to you new future Mac, the original villagers on your island have simplified houses that are generic. A new Mac will have his ‘real,’ character specific house

this pic is from nookipedia, it isn’t mine:

So that will be neat too!

Thanks guys. Everyone on this forum is so kind. I used a Nook Miles ticket and found Peewee. He moved into Mac's old plot. Still miss Mac though. Think I'll leave a paw sign outside Peewee's house as a tribute to Mac, and also the football he gave me. It's crazy how attached you get to the characters... Love Peewee though.

I agree, it is crazy how attached you get. As a side note I had already been interested a bit in Mac seeing him on an underrated villager thread, but I after looking into him when you were having trouble, now I kind of want him on my island someday!! He seems really great!

oh gosh, im so sorry!!! :C this might be a glitch ... there are some nice people who will hold him for you if you can try to get someone to do that (unfortunately i can't but i would always try if i could ofc)

not to be demeaning or anything but that's a rather rude thing to say to someone who's distressed and sad about this, fyi don't be like "i told ya so" because that makes you sound arrogant and mean. Not trying to start any arguments but i'd just like to throw this out there just in case maybe you didn't realize or something : P

I was responding real time to try and stop them from time traveling, to save their villager. This thread is from a while ago. It wasn’t an I told you so. I was responding on two different threads and wanted to avoid confusion and help someone in distress. You don’t understand my motives here, because it is after the fact, which is fine, but I do think it is upsetting to put a negative spin on me trying to make sure this person did not accidentally void their villager and make an upsetting situation worse. When I originally responded the villager was not voided, according to the post I was responding to, so it wasn’t an I told you so.

I think you have good intentions, because I’ve seen you post a lot and you can be very direct, but you seem to have good intentions and I think you probably are trying to help. But it is a little hurtful to have my motives questioned like this, sorry.

Edit: @HELP!! if I did make you feel worse during this ordeal I am truly, truly sorry. It was not intentional.

ah, ok. sorry to sound rude, i did indeed have good intentions but it's very easy to come off wrong when you're not talking face-to-face or anything : P
