I always thought full body cast, and that his name Lucky was a joke, seeing as how unlucky he is. I didn't know about his pyramid themed interior, but maybe he has that so he doesn't have to explain his bad luck, lol.
I always thought he was a mummy, given his house deco and the spooky-ish look to his one eye peeping through the bandage. Wouldn't know why he'd be called lucky given the mummy idea though.
My theory - he was named Lucky in Ancient Egypt and was always in a cast but always survived. Even after he died he came back to life and is still in a cast.
Didn't the "Inside the treehouse" vids from the ACNL site make note on Lucky being "unlucky" when they were talking about punny names? I took that to mean he was just in a body cast and that he was just playing it off as being a mummy with his house. On Halloween he's even AFRAID of mummies!!
Definitely a mummy - glowing eye plus he's always had an ancient theme in his house. Back in the GC it was really like a tomb, too. I got him into the mummy shirt as soon as I got him to move in from the campsite so now he's a full-on mummy.
I love that he's *afraid* of mummies at halloween!
The Egyptians mummified dogs, yes. Also cats, scarabs, alligators, and whatever people paid for. I was a Funeral Science Major in college back in the 80's. Also, it is funny - well, not really, that some people were taken in by scam artists. One patron paid to have her cat mummified and instead she was given a large rat in return. So even then funeral "parlours" were known for scamming.
So...Lucky COULD be a mummy... but I don't really think so. I still want him, tho. He's a dreamie! But he seems to be for a lot of people so I'd have to be very "lucky" some day to get him.
I've still got one of those Lucky T-shirts from about 7-8 years ago, it has the WW logo on the sleeve and a big picture of Lucky in his No 23 outfit. It's a bit tatty and a grubby sort of grey colour now, but I'd never part with it.
I always thought he was just a hurt dog, him being a mummy never even crossed my mind. That's probably because i only had him in gamecube though, his house didn't look very Egyptian to me back then. But thinking about it now he COULD be a mummy and that could explain his name. If a pharaoh died they would have their pets mummified and buried with them. So it could still be a pun on "unlucky" in that he was unlucky to have his owner die before him.
