Lucid Dreams... The state of awareness in dreams...
The hardest mental ability known to man...

Ok... if your confused heres an explanation...

Have you ever had a dream and realised you are dreaming? ok maybe you have... but were you able to controll every aspect of the dream? few people can...

Doing said above is known as Lucid Dreaming...

"Why is this rare" you ask...

Well...

When you are in the state of REM (Rapid Eye Movement) your body sends signals to paralyze your body... People without that ability sleepwalk.... but the side product of the paralysis is that the part of your frontal lobe of your brain that controlls reasoning is shut down untill REM is over... this is why you could ride a unicorn with robocop in your dream...

So know you know what it basically is...

"How do i acheive this" you ask...

Well...

From what i have gathered on acheiving this state of mind... it is hard and confusing... and leaves you tired...

But heres what i find the most simple...

If you can remember something occuring in your dream your half way there... using that you would proceed to do this...

Everytime you see that in real life :
A: Block your nose (If your body is paralyzed your nose would still be open... therefore you could breathe)
B: Poke the back of your wrist with your other hand (If you did this in your dream your finger would go through your Wrist)

If you encorperate these into everyday life your subconcious will do this in your dream... and making you aware your sleeping... resulting in a lucid dream...

"Why did you make this topic" you ask...

Well...

I am bored :D

I haven't dreamed or knew I was dreaming in forever.

Half the time I'm not in the dream though xD

I love lucid dreams. I've been trying to have them for a while, but only managed to have about 3 or 4... They were awesome dreams though.

There's also another way to have lucid dreams, but its slightly more complicated and I haven't gotten it to work yet.

I have lucid dreams a lot. I jerk to the right when I fall off of something, which is a lot.

Or is that a normal dream?
If you know its a dream, its lucid. Just becasue you know its a dream doesn't mean you can control it though.

I think I was excited I could control myself, so I guess I knew it was a dream xD

I embraced that dream like no tomorrow.

I think i've had one before... I think i was the one who reincarnated Trikki into the Ghost Rider :S

Nummer has what i call... a dull mind...

When you go lucid your brain turns the reasoning on...

Your brains says "Wtf is this... this aint right..." and stops all the unreal stuff... some people just wake up after that...

Heres a quick fix... Read more fantasy novels

Or its because people get really excited and thing "holy*censored.2.0*holy*censored.2.0*holy*censored.2.0* I'm dreaming!" \

And for people who are interested, this is a really good site. The forums are really good. http://www.dreamviews.com/

Another way to turn lucid...

The Wild (Wake Induced Lucid Dream)

Lie in bed completely still and pay attention to nothing...

After 2 or 3 hours your body forces REM and you are Half sleeping Half awake...

This makes you tired the next day and makes you prone to seizures later on in life...

I've tried this quite a few times, and its pretty hard to just do it right when you go to bed. It works better if you go to bed, wake up after a few hours, and then try it.

Also, you have to try to focus on something so that you stay conscious. When you go into sleep paralysis you won't be able to move, and might start seeing/hearing things. From that point there are many different ways to attempt to go into a dream, but I've never gotten any to work.

Also, I've never heard anything about it making you prone to seizures... have any source on that? Sleep paralysis happens to almost everyone at some point in their life without them even trying, usually from stress.
