Lost Item: What do I do with It?

This morning, I found a large blue sack in front of my house. When I picked it up it said that it maybe long to someone and I should find the owner. What do I do?

Ask your villagers and it should be one of them.

Talk to all of your villagers; it definitely belongs to one of them. When you engage a villager, you'll see an option to show them the item. If it's theirs, they'll thank you with a gift. If it's not theirs, they'll say so and you can ask the next villager.

Why? It's all relevant.
Old threads deserve some attention.
I'm giving them that. There's no harm in it.
There's nothing wrong with it.
So, I don't understand why it should bother you.
