Every person that plays video games is bound to lose at least one save file one way or another. Probably by having a sibling deleting their save, by losing the cartridge, or by having the game destroy the save file itself.

So tell us what did you lose after all those countless hours invested in a game.
Any level 100 Pokemon, or RPG character? Any %100 completed games?

Also, tell us about how you lost them!

I've lost save files of several games. I lost my save files of Assassin's Creed: Revelations a month or two ago when my PC crashed due to an unexpected power cut. And god I was pissed, I was doing 100% synchronization in every memory I came across and you know, just being a completionist in every aspect. Losing all of that is just really demotivational; I ended up giving up on that game. I finished it right before I started it again though, so I guess I wasn't losing out.

I also recall losing save files of Grand Theft Auto: IV, Zelda: Wind Waker, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Rayman Origins.

That sucks, I've lost a few PC Sims saves mainly to game crashes, also not the entire save file but I've lost a few hours on games due to the Internet going down. I once lost an entire Oblivion file, a few years of work, to corrupted saves as well.

I once lost a PS2 memory card that had, among other things, a save file for Final Fantasy X that I had invested hundreds and hundreds of hours into.

When I was younger I played World of Warcraft but I didn't have my own account and could only make a character on my brother's. He played a lot after school so my best friend and I would get up really early (like 4am) to play (it was the same for her and her brother lol). Anyways once I logged on at 4am and 10 mins later I was booted off and I got a really angry call from my bro, who was at a PC-room playing with his friend, that I accidentally disconnected him from a raid. He deleted my character after that :'( I was too bummed to make a new one so I just got over it. I had just gotten her to level 60 too (I think that was the highest at the time? like in 2005 before all those expansions lol). Shortly after that my best friend and I got into Animal Crossing Wild World and that's when the obsession started, so I guess it was thanks to my brother lol.

Honestly, game save data is so precious to me I'd rather lose the console and/or game over it and have to buy it again rather than losing my game data. I lost countless save data on the GameCube. Here's a list of games I lost data for I can recall:

- Star Fox Assault
- Kirby's Air Ride
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Super Monkey Ball 2
- F-Zero GX (I think?)
- Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg

I don't even remember how I lost a lot of these because I was so young. Of this list, I'd say Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg is the most tragic to have lost considering how much time I poured into that game unlocking everything. I had to use the action replay to get all the unlocks back, but it just doesn't feel the same.

My gamecube memory card corrupted itself and erased a bunch of games that I completed/progessed:

Kirby Air Ride
Sonic Adventure DX
Sonic Adventure 2
Shadow the Hedgehog
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
Baten Kaitos
Soul Calibur II
Tales of Symphonia
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
