lately i've been really inactive on these forums, and acnl all together. it's really unusual for me to be inactive on acnl, since the game means a lot to me and i'm obsessed with it. it just seems that life has been quite busy & i haven't had the chance to do much. i went on acnl after a few days of being inactive and found that purrl moved, which upset me. she wasn't supposed to move.

i really want to get back into acnl and be more active, it just seems like a drag and i don't have as much energy as i used to. any advice? i don't want any other villagers to move without my knowing.

^ agreed with the comment above. If you want to avoid anybody else moving, what I'd do is I'd write down the date you last played, and when you're ready again, just go to the date you last played on and go from there.

If you want a reason to be more active in acnl again, maybe try to achieve any badges you haven't earned yet, or focus on completing your catalog if you haven't already, or design your town if that's something you've yet to do? A good way to get motivation to play a game is to set a goal for yourself...but I would take a break first, just so you have time for things that isn't acnl

I felt like that a couple of months back, so I took a month off. I have a lot of villagers I love, so I noted down the date and loaded up on there when I started playing again.
Then, if you want to get back to today's date, just find the villager who is moving first. You might need to tt to the next day if there isn't one when you first load up again. Tell them not to move and tt forward back to the current date (you can tt as far as you like after you've found the mover and stopped them or told them to leave). Nobody else will leave :)

yeah you need to take a break from it. i lost interest the past month too, im probably gonna start playing again around october because its really boring for some reason rn. in the mean time im playing other games like pokemon or kirby

Agreed with a break.
I even restarted fresh to make it a little easier for me to return.
My advice is to come back every couple of days to check on your villagers, and go on with your day. Sometimes it does help to refresh your game when you grow tired.

I am busy irl and have no time to play but my interest has not faded. That's life sometimes. I have to at least go in every day for a couple mins to check on movers. I really like seeing you around as you're a fellow snooty fan.

i played for a good two hours today & picked myself up, made a new character and everything. i'm going to try and become a bit more active around this forum and maybe open my shop back up, i'm just not sure how long this is going to last.

ive been through that many times, i think the longest ive went without playing is about a year, my advice is to just take a long break then come bake to it,

Eh, there's nothing wrong with losing interest for a while. Or even permanently, like many people do. I've taken several-month long breaks and that always makes me want to come back. The problem for me is that when I play, I play too much (like almost all my free time). So then I get burnt out quickly. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing, ya know? Maybe that's happening to you if you've been playing a lot.

It always feels a little weird to take a break though, because the game becomes sort of a part of me and my routine, and it's important to me so it's weird to just stop all together, even if it's just for a little while. But it's always worth it, because if I don't take breaks I start getting obsessive and weird about the game and it literally becomes almost all I can think about. Which is not good \:

So don't be afraid to take a break, even if it feels weird. You could even try forcing yourself to take a break if you have to (ex: challenge yourself no to play for a whole month, or two, or three), because then the game will feel sort of..."fresher" and more exciting when you come back.

Good luck! And please don't force yourself to play if you're not having fun anymore, that will only make you unhappy in the long-run c:

just dont force yourself to play if it feels like a chore

You can always play a few minutes daily just to check on your villagers, do not play it for hours, they won't leave that way I think, the moving villager will probably not take to long to tell you he/she wants to move and you just need to say no. Then you can continue with your day.

I take a break every so often. Once it had to be for a few months.
But I always eventually want to come back - I just freeze time and move the time back to just after I last played. So long as I don't go back over a past save, turnips are fine.
Means I play in the past, but I play every ingame day, no issues and no moving villagers.

I see a fair number of posts where players have got tired of the game, and sold it, only to want to play again a few months or so later - acnl like all ac games is a real charmer, it keeps drawing you back.

I always end up losing interest of the game and leaving it alone for a month, and when I get the motivation to play it again I always seem to find me restarting the game.. Thing is it works. I get into the game again because I know there's so much waiting for me to do again.

sorry if this counts as bumping an old topic but i decided to play after a few days of not playing and it really just hit me, how much i appreciate this game. i just started listening to the 1 am music and started to cry, it just really hits you how nostalgic & wonderful animal crossing is. i'm going to try my best and be active at this game and start posting on this forum again, i really don't want to lose this game and all the memories it's given me.

mods, this topic is no longer relevant and can be locked/deleted

This thread is so wonderful!

I have been there; feeling lost yet still in love with ACNL.
Last year around the holidays was a difficult time because it was the perfect time to play but I had resistance to wanting to play.
Maybe you can relate.

It sounds like you found your groove back! I am so happy for you.
