I'm currently in the process of completely re-doing my island. I've been noticing that most islands/in-game content follow a tropical theme which I'm not a fan of, so I've decided to make a forest mountain theme! I was born and raised in Northern California and adore the places in higher elevations with pine and redwood-like trees. My biggest inspiration for my island is Yosemite National Park. I plan to use cedar trees to mimic redwood trees and orange wildflowers to mimic California Poppies, the national flower. I also plan on having many waterfalls, lakes, and rough terrains such as steep mountains and more dirt instead of grass.
If anyone has any advice, ideas, inspiration, etc. please let me know! I currently have a few ideas such as hiking trails and a gold mine (to show the historical significance of the gold rush), but otherwise, I'm stuck on a lot of things. My main concern is the beach, I was planning on replacing the sand with dirt but learned that you can't add flooring to the sand. This is a problem because I would definitely prefer my beach to mimic a large lake to add to the mountain effect. I also want to showcase California's huge agricultural economy, but I'm not sure how to do so given my mountain theme.
If anyone has advice or ideas either comment on this thread or DM me! Thank you so much for your time!
