I suddenly hate the way I have my paths laid out and I'm looking for ideas. My biggest issue is I want paths to start at the train station, but I want room for items to be dropped off and picked up...
Any advice? Or Can you show me your train station, paths, and path layouts?

I designed my path to be simple and modular - there's only four tiles but they can be put together in tons of different ways. I've got three different types of interaction in my town at the moment between cobble/grass and paths.

paths1.JPG

Type 1: "all the way through". Path begins square at the base of the train station and goes over the cobbles onto the grass as an unbroken line. Cobble-grass border isn't interfered with.

Type 2: "start somewhere". Path begins at edge of cobbled area, hiding cobble-grass border but only in that spot. lol my little guy looks so smug.

Type 3: "just the edges". Path leaves most of cobbled area free but covers the outside to hide the cobble-grass border.

Aside from a Type 4 "cover everything" (which you said you don't want because of item drops) I think that's pretty much every option that exists!

So I have an area at the train station "boxed in" with tiles so there's a big space to drop items, and I have paths from the left and right side. The south side is bushes and flowers because right below my train station is a pond and a rock =_=

These are the path tiles I use: http://stardrop-crossing.tumblr.com/post/67715125599/i-dont-know-if-any-of-you-guys-are-interested
I didn't want to make extra characters just to hold paths, so I went with a two-tile design.
It's not bad, but I might try doing some modifications to it soon to fit the colors of the town better.

my paths are cobble stones so i dont have any on the stone part, BUT i do have an area just on the side for pick up!
