Limit on Wetsuit Trick?

Is there a limit on the trick that uses the wetsuit to get villagers to talk to you? (mainly for unlocking public works projects).

It must be rare. I get asked to go hang out at a house, or change a catchphrase, or get a free item, or get an item bought off of me, etc. I only got 1 public works project today. I'm trying to unlock as much as I can, but mainly the modern bridge.

You fill your inventory with items villagers won't want to buy (flowers, tools, etc) and dive into the ocean with the wetsuit on. Swim really far away, and just chill for like 5 mins or so. Then swim back and run in front of your villagers, hoping one will ping you for a PWP.

I'm not having luck with this today lol

Here's the short version: You put on the wetsuit, you go swim in your town (corner is best), sit there for 5 minutes, go back up to land, instant ping by a villager.

Fill your pockets with 100 bell packs, or unidentified fossils. Villagers will not be able to give you items and they can't buy anything from you.

Only one PWP per day. It's easier to get a ping if you have high friendship with the villager like it'll only take around 5 minutes staying in the water or away from them, but probably around 10 minutes if they just moved in to your town. Having a high friendship also makes you prone to getting instant ping from villagers the moment you walk outside of your house and go in their line of sight.

thanks for adding this! I had no idea that friendship levels effected the rate at which you got pinged. I always just tried the diving trick about every 5 minutes or so. this is helpful to know!

I did not think friendship levels effected the amount of pings you get from them.

It's not a trick.
Stay away from villagers for 5 minutes.

Run or walk by the villager(s) you want PWP's from, and avoid the ones you don't.

Have an inventory full of shells that they won't bother trying to buy from you, and have no bells, so they can't try and sell you anything.

If you don't get pinged for the PWP you want, turn off without saving, and repeat until you do.

I got all of mine this way.

It's probably easier to get pings from cranky and uchi. You could just TT to when most of the villagers are sleeping then farm requests from these two personalities. That is, if you're fine with TT'ing.
