What's the difference between ADD and ADHD?

ADHD is Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. ADD (Attention Deficit DIsorder) is an old term that is now used to describe a subset of ADHD (namely, ADHD predominately inattentive.) If he says he has both, what he probably means is he has ADHD with symptoms predominately involving inattention and easy distractibility.
