how long does it take for a letter to get to another town?

i sent many letters today (including one to my real life friend's town) and im wondering when they will arrive because i told them all to reply when they get it

It only does that if you or your friends Wii connect 24 gets messed up.

I don't like the "sometime's it'll never get there" part, I wish it was always possible like AC:GC and AC:WW.
