Let's Talk About That Spot Pass Feature

Or more specifically the feature where Nintendo sends out a model house every Monday.

Do they still do this?

And if so, how can one acquire these houses?

Everything should be turned on in my game and 3DS, but I have yet to receive a single house in the showroom.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, and/or does anyone have any tips?

I apologize, as always, if this thread is misplaced or if there's something regarding it already! I've tried to do my research, but have yet to come up with anything helpful (and this has been an issue for months)!

When I first started the game back in summer 2013 it wasn't a problem at all, but since fall I haven't received any houses. And I'm one of those poor, unfortunate souls who lives literally in the middle of nowhere, so acquiring them by StreetPass is near impossible.

I rarely ever get spot passes...
I use to get a lot of spot passes from McDonald's here in town since it was a nintendo zone, but they tore it down to rebuild about a month or so ago... My passes are terribly suffering now. ^^'
((I didn't go to McDonalds all the time btw, it happened to be on the same street area as the movie theater and flea market where I have a booth. >.>))

Do you have a PAL (European/Australian) or JP version of the game? If so, then the model houses aren't sent to you. It's US only, I think.

If you do have a US copy, SpotPass pretty much just works from any wi-fi points, as long as you have the feature turned on. It often gives me a blue dot for ACNL when new DLC is available.

I'm in the US, so I should be getting them.

Like I said, I used to quite a bit, and I don't know what happened. I'll have to go in and make sure everything is actually turned on again, I can't figure out why else I wouldn't be receiving them. My wifi access is always fine.

Honestly, if I lived close enough to a McDonald's that offered decent Wifi and gave me lots of Model Homes, I'd be there all the time.
No shame.

I kinda hate being in the EU just for that. The only model home we ever got from Nintendo was to celebrate Pikmin 3. It was full of fruit, custom designs, and the sci-fi set. Yay...

The wifi isn't decent.
Home has much nicer wifi. XP
And both my 3ds and my husbands always had trouble getting connected to the nintendo zone anyways. XP

I got the model houses that Nintendo sent out last year, but I think the last one they sent out was Reggie's (repeat) in December. I haven't gotten any this year. I do live near a McDonald's, but very few people have NL and if they do, their houses are 10,000 HHA points at the most and a lot of them started playing NL last year, which shows you they don't play it any longer.
I wish Nintendo still sent out the houses just to see how they set up their houses.
