*Le Big Sigh*

I'm so sorry. That is a definite foul on the thief's part. I've been nervous about having groups over for just that reason. I know you said you aren't looking for more frags to replace what was taken, but if you change your mind, I can help out with some.

I'm sorry to hear that someone abused your trust. Never a good feeling especially during an event which kind of puts you off from doing them sometimes. Been there.

But, always important to focus on the people that came and had a good time that didn't take advantage. And I always try to remember that, even though it's a game, people that resort to certain behavior such as those speaks more about them as a person and what may be going on in their life...someone that feels the need to do scams/stealing clearly has some things missing for them and at least you can look back and be glad you were putting out positive energy whereas when they look back they'll have to remember all the negative energy they put out. I tend to just think about it that way and wish better for them.

I think the only downfall with our rating system is that not a lot of people will not give negative ratings for the fear of being confrontational. That's what I notice anyways.

So whoever did it, has probably done something similar in the past, and whether the other trader(s) were too nervous, got ninja'd like you, or they feigned naiveness.

Personally, the person should know the number 1 rule is to always ask the owner of the island if they're unsure of the answer. Just trading and being here for a week screams that, lol.

I'd love to use the pearls as decoration but I don't want someone yoinking it. I'm sorry that happened during a nice event. It sucks there's really no way of curbing it in a simple fashion without pulling out the fences or hiding them in storage.

I mean, if this happened to me and I knew who did it, I'd 100% leave a negative rating. I'm not a naturally confrontational person, but I'll still call someone out if they take advantage of me and will probably do it to someone else. But the problem here is they DON'T know who did it.

It's also possible this person knows this. They may have done this before in similar situations (as opposed to when they were visiting by themselves, where they could get called out), where someone invited a big group to their island and they snuck around and grabbed stuff. That way they get free stuff, but no one else knows who did it, and therefore they can't leave a negative review.
I mean, I'd NEVER leave, like, a group of negative reviews saying "this person may've stolen... IDK, someone did" and the thief in this situation would know that would pretty much be the person's only option.

Aww no, Bcat! So sorry to hear that. You already said you have replacements but let me know if you ever need some of mine. I'll save you a spot for my next meteor shower too!

@Serabee
Oh, I know. They're probably just a serial stealth offender, that's why I said ninja'd. It just sucks that the 100% feedback still has holes where a lot us would like to trust that is a good person.

Sometimes it's just not the case.

I’m sorry this happened ! this is mainly the reason I don’t leave things dropped either 😔 the backwards star clocks are a great idea and I can also help make these if people don’t have the recipe! 😊

It should be common sense to not pick things up unless the host directly tells you it’s ok >_< With the heightened popularity of this game, it attracted a ton of people including these rude ones :/ and like the others mentioned they slip through ratings/feedback systems and ruin people’s days

Sorry that happened to you! Everybody here is usually pretty nice, hopefully you can find who did it :)

That's ridiculous that someone would do that while visiting your island!

When I'm on someone's island, I daren't even pick up a tree branch off the ground in case they wanted it left there!

aww that really sucks! I am sorry to hear this! This is one reason why I wish we had an update that has a little tracking icon for every player on the mini map to help keep an eye out. I feel like it could help narrow people down or even deter people in the first place.

god, i haven’t heard “le sigh” since like,, 2017 and now i’m having grade 10 flashbacks smh

for real, i’m really sorry that happened. i’ve seen your threads for the firework shows and the meteor shower and you seem like a really great host to have - and plus, your gnome rave sounds iconic. unfortunately, there’s always gonna be greedy people out there who’ll take advantage of your kindness and your trust; it’s unfair and not your fault at all but unfortunately, that’s just how things go sometimes.

lemme know if you need any help replacing your fragments, though; i don’t have many regular ones but i’ve got some zodiac ones and some large ones if you need :)

Ugh I'm so sorry that happened to you that is so completely unacceptable, gross, and awful. I I really wish the animal crossing trading/hosting community was more wholesome as it should be yet bad eggs always find a way to slip through an honest person's generosity. One time when I was visiting someone to sell turnips I saw someone snatch the host's gold roses and I tried to stop them from leaving with them but at the same time another person was already giving the host issues by refusing to leave the island. The host shortly disconnected and it was just all-around an appalling display. Some people are truly trash and don't understand/deserve the respect, kindness, and sanctity of other's islands, but I still find amongst all those bad eggs are a bevvy of decent people willing to help you after your misfortunes. I wish you the very best of good luck in future hosting if you choose to do so.

:< I completely understand when you say it's not the loss of the items but the principle that you put trust in users and someone broke that trust. It does hurt. Very sorry you had to experience this.

I'm sorry that there are rude and disrespectful people out there who do things like this.

I recently just started using star fragments to decorate my island, and I'm terrified to invite strangers over for this reason. It really sucks that people think they can just pick up whatever they want from someone else's island.
It's frustrating that you can't figure out who did it either. Gah, why do people have ruin things for everyone else.

will have to be careful with mine, have tons of star pieces lying around, I do think I can close off those sections though, even from divers

This is why I seldom do any giveaways lately. I added fences in the entrance to prevent anyone from exploring my island.

My only advice to you is making some sort of like a watchtower on which visitors can only have limited viewing access.
