Laptop Activities on TV Screen?

At my school I have these big TV like things and the teachers hook them up to there laptops and what they do on there laptop appears on the TV like thing. How can I do this at home?

I think you also need a tv that is compatible with the computer. Like, you can't do it with an old television you need a relatively new one.

Yes I have, I got a new TV for christmas.
 
we have smart boards at our school too. they are so cool, i love writing on them.
idk how much they are but I am pretty sure they are expensive .....
 
only like 3 teachers in my school have them cuz they think that its more important for the middle school to have smarts boards.... but luckily my precal teach has one! tis awesome! cuz she just emails us the notes =D

yeah my math teacher has one too, and she saves all of the pages of work to her website and we can check them if we are absent.

one time though there was a really old substitute (this guy was crazy ... he would play the harmonica and speak in spanish) and he thought the smart board was an actual white board and wrote on it with an expo marker. So my teacher had to get a new one ... and i think the substitute was fired
:huh: But now there is a sign on it that says "THIS IS NOT A WHITE BOARD, DO NOT USE REAL MARKERS" hahaha.
 
We have 3 Smart Boards in my school. The grade 7 math teacher (she's my homeroom teacher) has one, a grade 6 teacher has one and I don't know where the other one is. The one's we have were like $4,000 each. The lightbulb blew in the projector so we couldn't use it during our probability unit. Which means we couldn't use the virtual dice or spinner and stuff like that. :'(
