Language Glitch?

Hey guys, I had something weird happening in my town a few days ago.
Now, this is important: My DS is set to German and I have only played in German so far.

I didn't screenshot the start of the conversation because it was perfectly normal (German). He just said the standart greeting things.
But then suddenly he started talking English:


You can see the game still being set to German by his name being his German one (Manni) and not his Eglish one (Rod)
After I said I'll do it the language turned back and he repeated the instructions he gave in English before:


I'm so confused xD I did adopt Rod from someone on here weeks ago who I suppose has their game set to English but is it even possible that villagers carry that data over to another game? I play with Americans all the time and even in their towns there was never ANYTHING that wasn't displayed in German for me (except custom catchphrases obviously).. Did anyone else had something like that happen?!

Oh that is strange.
I have to agree with hotcocoa, the developers must have left something out and it just caused this to happen.
I don't necessarily think it's a bug, probably just something that got left out by the developers of the game.
Maybe a missed line of coding or something.

I always assumed the game was translated from japanese into German directly without going the way to English first.. But maybe you guys are right!

I'm guessing it was just an accidental leave-out as well - plus I'm guessing the number of Japanese -> German translators is pretty small, compared to how easy it would be to find Japanese -> English and then English -> German o:

That's really weird, yet interesting! I guess programmers did something wrong for this to happen...?

I too believe it was something they just oversaw when programming the game and didn't realise. It's a neat incident though, it must have been really surprising for you to see since you're used to having your game set in German. Have you ever experienced that glitch where another villager asks you to bring another villager to them and then their name switches to the person who asked you to do the favour? LOL it happened to me with Whitney and Brocolo. They were both called Whitney I think. It was pretty funny, I don't know if it happens in any other games set in different languages though maybe it's just the english one. Like hotcocoa said though, they never ask for 4 signatures in the English translation, it's usually six.
