I have been playing for a while and I want to landscape my town. I'm just gonna do a basic path with some flowers and trees surrounding it. Can ya'll tell some some tricks and tips to make it easier? How long would it take?

That's a good start. It really depends on what kind of layout you want, like if you want specific areas in your town or whatnot.

In my main town, I have a campsite area surrounded by cedar trees, flowers and shrubs with the log bench, hammock and water pump inside. Then I just used paths to connect villager houses and stores.

I would do a little bit each day (still working on filling out the remailing areas with flowers) and it took me about a week or so.

there are a lot of tumblr pages that post acnl paths that i'm sure you could easily find by searching 'acnl paths' on tumblr. also, start breeding flowers like crazy all over your beach. and buy as many saplings, axes and bush starts as you can.
landscaping can take a LONG time depending what you want and if you are a perfectionist. it could also be very quick if you already have an idea in mind and most of the gardening supplies you need too. good luck!!

My tip is to find one color scheme and stick with for the whole town. It's easier in my opinion. But if you have different color schemes in different places of your town, do one part at a time... when you finish one part you get a sense of accomplishment that can help you stick through to the end! Hope that's helpful!

Hi. :] I'm in a similar situation that you're in and I had also made a thread; people have left me some helpful suggestions that might help give you some ideas, even though the things we're having difficulty with are probably not exactly the same. http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?299667-Landscaping-Help&highlight=

I'm currently at the point where I'm laying down some paths and trying to decide what flowers/bushes/trees I want to use; all of my flowers are on the beach now.

Aww, heyy, glad you liked my guide! :D I did give tips in that guide on how I go about decorating. Basically there's no wrong or right way to do it, just go with what looks good to you. I like my landscaping to still be functional. Some people really like those natural forest type of towns and those can be nice if they're done well, but I always get lost in them. I like to color theme areas, but still have kind of an overall color scheme to the town as a whole. If that makes sense. It's good to have your paths set first that way you don't decide later to extend it out somewhere and have to cut down trees cause saplings are hard to come by you only get one a day from the shop. So hoard like mad. If you need bush starts let me know I have tons. Cause I'm a hoarder.

I visited loads of dream towns to get inspiration for my own town, and tried to pull together bits and pieces from various towns that I liked! I really recommend placing your paths (and PWPs if possible) before you do any serious landscaping. You should also try to build a large bell fund to purchase all the hybrids and starts you'll need.

Building a good town takes ages, but it's very worth it! ^^

Here's another tip:
Landscape in the afternoon. I made a path a few days in the evening and it turned out good, but the next day I really disliked it.
I keep on changing my paths because I won't get satisfied. I'm too much a perfectionist for landscaping lol.
Lucky me I have vacation so I have lots of free time :)

And another tip for free flowers:
Go on the butterfly tour or another bug tour and take the flowers :p I did that and places a lot of full baskets on the beach so I didn't have to wait for the right flowers show up in the gardening store :)

Good luck!

First, decide what colour scheme you want- this will make it easier to find paths! Then, lay the paths. I usually find paths that are two squares wide look best, and the connect up bridges well! Not saying that you can't use paths that are 1 squares wide, but I think that using paths that are 2 squares wide just look better.

Think of a town theme. This could include villagers, which you should use the plot resetting if you get them. http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?121319-Plot-resetting

Also, using a checked pattern with flowers can save you a lot of time with breeding (eg. pink and white).

Are you aware of the trick to get PWPs quicker? Here's a guide: http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/997811-...ou-get-villagers-to-suggest-more-public-works

A good town can take months to finish, but it's often worth it. Although, there are people who have done it in a couple weeks, so don't be discouraged! Good luck, I'm curious as to what it turns out to be.
