Hello :). I've been having trouble making my town look nice and I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips? I usually wouldn't care if my town was neat and organized and instead just enjoy the game without worrying about what others think, but the more I look at other people's towns and whenever someone comes over to my town to trade, I can't help but feel a bit embarrassed and/or self-conscious of how my town looks. When I look at other people's screenshots of their towns or visited their dream suites, I tried to implement some ideas I have seen in some dream towns that I have visited or from screenshots of other people's towns, but I haven't been able to implement anything well at all. :/ My screenshots will only show so much, so, here's my dream address is: 5200-5295-4257 if you're interested in seeing the rest of it.

I'm trying to get my grass to come back that's part of the reason why I have tons of flowers everywhere; also, I'm trying to breed for certain colors. I still have no idea whether I want to pick a certain flower and/or certain colors a not only use those; or just use them all.

I just created a fourth character last night, so, the map doesn't show it on the map.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. :]

I'm not that good at landscaping. But if you want your grass back quickly, play until a villager asks you to move. Tell that villager no and then time travel forward a month, and then time travel back to the original date. Your grass will back to normal.

I like to think I'm pretty good at landscaping. You can visit my DA if you want (in my sig), but my general advice for landscaping is to start with a clean slate. Move all your flowers onto your beach, chop down all trees/dig up stumps and then see what you have. If you aren't laying down paths then focus on landscaping major areas first such as around villager houses or buildings. I usually frame houses with bushes along the sides and I like to coordinate my flowers by color. I pick two colors usually that I think represent the villager/building well and I plant those around houses and buildings along with corresponding bushes and trees that match the color scheme I'm going for. It just makes things look a little neater rather than just having a bunch of random flowers piled around an area.

One trick to do in landscaping, when your town is overloaded and disorganized with flowers, is to use a different human character (even if you have to create one) to pick up the flowers and store the keepers in a locker. It's a tip for helping to whip the town into shape.

Thanks everyone. :] I don't think I'll try the time travel one, but still, I really do appreciate the suggestion and will keep it in mind in case I change my mind. I was hoping I wouldn't have to "start over" ~ the landscaping, but I think that is a good idea, so I'll try it. :)

I also have a question: does the grass still deteriorate if you put "paths" on the ground? I read somewhere that it does, which is why I stopped using them (well, part of the reason why).

I've read somewhere that it doesn't, yet I recall seeing a village where they removed the path and revealed dirt underneath - I'll remove some of my paths and report back to you.

- - - Post Merge - - -

I removed some of my most used paths and the grass looks intact under there. This video demonstrates otherwise, though.

Seems like the beautiful town ordinance does help with that a bit though. Also, when using path designs, you won't see the wear underneath - and you'll be more likely to take the same route every time, resulting in less area of grass wear.

Yes I believe grass does deteriorate under paths. But then again with the path there no one will ever know :)

My tips from when I was landscaping (I'm really no expert if you saw my town :P)

- I cut down all the trees that were there when I started the game and planted new ones that were organized and evenly spaced apart
- Wait until most of your villagers are in and then lay down paths that connect to their houses
- Line paths with bushes/flowers/trees
- Organize flowers into sections by colour and species

I also use the beach for breeding hybrids.

But I also wanted to say you don't need to be embarrassed about your town as long as you like it! I've had some visitors to my town tell me it's gorgeous, and others tell me I'm doing everything wrong and need to start over. Everyone will have a different opinion about your town but in the end you're the one who sees it everyday, so do it for you! Also I think the areas around your house and statue fountain look really pretty!

Hi, I would suggest taking all the flowers out the way and making a path, there are many nice qr code paths.

Then reorganise the flowers around your paths. Id also put trees and bushes around them, my town used to have just flowers round the paths but using bushes and trees around them made a huge difference
Example

TfxPPxfT
xfxPPxfx
TfxPPxfT

T = Tree
P = Path
X = Empty space
F = Flower
Hopefully you get the idea

I think so. I've taken some screenshots of other people's towns, so, that might help me too.

Has anyone seen any paths that could go well with a medieval theme? I'm looking through Bidoof's Crossing for the millionth time and I haven't found any.

After I get rid of my trees and flowers, where should I go from there? Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm not an expert, but I'd recommend laying paths first before doing anything else to help connect houses and buildings. (: And then bushes after that.
