Not a big fan of kid Icarus so I'd say super mario 3D land.

Uprising, for sure. Arguably the best game on 3DS, at least until Smash Bros. came along - while I felt that Super Mario 3D Land long outstayed it's welcome. I mean sure, there's 16 worlds (which are considerably shorter than your usual Mario worlds, might I add) - but the difficulty's often stuck on "extremely easy", save for World 8 and World 16. And considering the gameplay doesn't change a whole lot throughout the game.. it gets a bit repetitive. (Understatement of the year ;U)
Kid Icarus: Uprising, on the other hand - while I do feel it's a little short, the gameplay it has is some of the best gameplay you'd get on a 3DS. Hilarious dialogue, great multiplayer modes and rather intuitive controls, even if they ARE a little awkward. If you've played a Smash Bros game, you'd click with Uprising's controls rather quickly, as they're very similar. (Though to be fair, both games DID have the same main guy behind it, Masahiro Sakurai!)
Also did I mention the dialogue in Uprising is hilarious because wow.

But yeah, when I first got it I was addicted to it for MONTHS; and the first game I got on my Japanese 3DS was Shin Hikari Shinwa: Parutena no Kagami JUST so I could play it again in Japanese. It's very fun and hilarious.

I would love to say go for and play the game you have no experienced. Youll get something completely new, unlike from 3D Land. (Sorrry!! I kind of feel mario games tend to be the same ><) But yeah, go for uprising.

Unless you like to experience a tiny 'series', go 3D land then go 3D world. Or just got to 3D world altogether

Kid Icarus: Amazing 3D game experience with a reboot from one of Super Smash bros' most popular characters. The game was created by Smash bros creator, Sakurai, so no doubt about its quality. Dialogs are funny and livily, a pretty solid plot, online is amazing, lots of goals and target and lots of collectibles and weapons to customize/merge. Pretty much the nearest thing available to a 3D smash bros. Its only con is the controls, especially if you're playing it on a normal sized 3DS. It doesn't take you long before your hands start the cracking.
Super Mario 3D land: 14 worlds of amazing creative stages and lots of casual play to undergo. Very fun times with one of the best platformers on the 3DS. The final boss fight in this game is one of the most fun ones I've played so far. If you're a casual gamer who just happens to play in short breaks (or in the rest room), then this game is for you, and not Kid Icarus.

Kid Icarus uprising. I got 3D Land last week and I haven't even beaten the first world yet. I had a bumch of time and everytime I tried playing it I just went to home screen in the middle of a level
