I've been ignoring Beardo for about 5 days because I want to kick him out in the hopes of tracking down cool old man Dobie. I haven't time traveled more than 4 days at a time so I don't want to TT to weeks ahead to get someone to leave. So far I only have one villager who'll be staying with me permanently so I'm ready to let go of any villager. I'm stuck!

I think amiibos or patience are the only way to do it without TT, all other theories have been proven wrong /: good luck

edit: there's the camp site as well. If they offer to trade with someone you want to stay, quit the game before the dialog ends and they should say another name when you try again

I have more luck having people I'm friendly with want to move out. Or get them to move out with a camper from the campsite or an amiibo card.

I'm in the same boat! People keep telling me to be friendly and give them lots of gifts, even if you're not their biggest fan. I noticed the villagers I treat the best want to leave the most so that's what I'm trying this week!

I've gotten rid of several villagers without time traveling and its actually pretty easy. The first thing you must do is wait until someone (any villager) wants to move. Generally villagers will ask to move out after about 10-15 days after the last move out, so if you don't want to TT, you will have to wait that long. You will see the thought bubble over their head, and when you talk to them you can confirm that they indeed are asking to move. The next step is to not answer yes or no, and instead turn the game off. Do not talk to the villager the rest of the day, and tomorrow the thought bubble will most likely be passed to someone else. Keep repeating this process until it lands on the villager you want to move. (Sometimes it might be the same villager for 2-3 days in a row. this can happen, just keep going!)

In regards to friendship points, I have had success with this method with villagers who I was close with and not close with. In my experience, friendship points did not matter, and I actually found that the villagers who I was not close with at all (recent move ins, villagers I tried to ignore) asked to move the most when doing this method. Lmk how it goes and if you have any questions! :)

here's a good video guide. if you want something faster, then replacing with a campsite villager (amiibo or otherwise) is probably the best bet for something more instant.

I also use this method, and it works! The way I saw it described you shut off the game and when it restarts ask to move their house (but don’t actually move it). I’m not sure if that is necessary but I get the kit and then return it. I talk to the villager after restarting, especially if they have another thought bubble that day and it does not effect the move out thought bubble. The next day a different villager will have the move out bubble.

Some notes: 1. If kk is on your island or another event is happening, no one will ask to move, so you will have to wait out these extra days.

2. if you actually move their house it seems to cause a delay if a couple days -I don’t have proof of this but the one time my husband actually moved his villager’s house he didn’t get another move out bubble for 2 or 3 days.

3. On one occasion I had the same villager ask two days in a row. I think this was just bad luck and it seems uncommon. It doesn’t mean that it is stuck on that villager moving out, and the next day someone different asked.

4. remember to return the house moving kit to Tom nook. He even gives you a full refund!

This step is not mandatory (I've never done it), I think its just to let you talk to the villager after confirming they want to move instead of ignoring them! So its a good tip if you must talk to them that day, either because you feel bad ignoring them or you want to give them a gift or something :)

thanks for posting this, so helpful. been ignoring my camp move in ever since he arrived and have wondered why he just wouldn't go away

Update: I caved and tted ten days ahead. No one had a bubble so I tried complaining about Beardo to Isabelle and tted another ten days. He asked to leave! I will be moving in Dobie today. I saw the complain/tt technique online but didn't think it would actually work! Not sure if this was a streak of luck but it worked for me

That’s very useful to know cause I wondered why it was necessary. It is definitely needed for me. I can’t bear to ignore my villagers, even the ones I want to move
