Katsuya Eguchi reveals something interesting.

Remember how badly the 3DS was doing before New Leaf?
Animal Crossing is one of Nintendo's biggest franchises now, it has been for a while.
New Leaf was one of the best selling games last year, outselling the last of us, one of the most hyped games in years.

Animal Crossing won't be as successful on console as it was on DS or 3DS, Nintendo does portable gaming the best, but Animal Crossing will no doubt shift a good number of Wii U's.

Anyway, this is great news, I was getting so worried that the WiiU version would be just another rehash of New Leaf, there's so much that a console AC game can do that can't be done on portable (or the 3DS at least)

Maybe if they're different enough, the two games could co-exist perhaps using the 3DS-Wii U connectivity, for example villagers from the NL town visiting the Wii U town.

Interesting. If they make it work well... it would give me more of a reason to start using the Wii U. Cause right now, it's just sitting there collecting dust most days. Could even help give the system a boost in sales since AC is the kind of game people play frequently unlike the other games for the Wii U that are out right now, for the most part.
