If someone else were to visit Katrina in my town would it count for the amount that needs to trigger her shop in Main St.?

I think the visit count for the player who makes it

It would count towards the 20 visits required for the person who is visiting your town. It would not count towards your Katrina.

i think it only counts if it's a character who lives in the town

I tried visiting my other town and it didn't work. Did the 20 visits and than talked to Katrina in my town.
She didn't mention the shop. Try the next time she showed up and got nothing.

It only works for villagers in your town. Next time Katrina's in town, just create a new character, get a fortune told, delete the character, make another, etc, until she stops you from leaving
