Katarina shop needed?

- The Stalk Market is a form of gambling.
Oops did not know that, thanks for telling me.

- Zen designs prescribe to Indian Mahayanan Buddhism and Taoism.
I ignore them.

- Several characters offer talismans, a few PWPs are shrines.
I ignore those

- The only tangible goal in the game is wealth accumulation, and in some ways the game is recklessly capitalistic.
The bells/money? I like to do other things and only earn them for items and stuff and my ordinance is early bird

- Former games featured an elephant character with a bindi.
I will ignore her/him

- Several statues feature famous works that are people in various states of undress. One is Venus de Milo (a Roman goddess), Michaelangelo's David (he's nekked!), and Manekkin Pis, a Belgian statue of a peeing boy. One of the paintings is based on Manet's "A Bar at the Folies-Bergere," which features men talking to a prostitute.
I am not interested in artworks I rarely visit redd

- Harvey and Pascal both have mannerisms associated with heavy drug use.
Isn't Harvey a vegan dog that is at the campsite and likes nature? I have not seen pascal yet. Do you have any proof on this (links and explanation)

- Resetti has an "adult" magazine in his Resetti Center.
Gonna see that for myself becouse the game Is rated G

- - - Post Merge - - -

- One of the fortune cookies is a riff on a famous Sigmund Freud quote about cigars and their phallic shape. It replaces "cigar" with "sword." Worth noting that the Latin word for "sword" was the same as the word for "penis."
I think the fourtune cookies are more a raffle thing and that is only one raffle ticket and I can just throw it (or the prize) out in the bin
- More Roman mythology! There is the Remus and Romulus breastfeeding statue.
I mostly ignore artwork and red becouse I am not interested

- Read the lyrics to Kapp'n's songs. I don't have the patience for them, but I remember one or two being sexually suggestive.
I spam "B" to get to the island quicker

- Most of the holidays in the North American version of the game are centered on Christian holidays. Toy Day is effectively Christmas, Bunny Day is Easter. Hallowe'en is based on Alhallowtide, a celebration of Catholic Saints. Naughty-or-Nice Day (Europe) is Saint Nicholas Day.
They are the same things but renamed and made so every religion can have fun? I don't think there is any thing wrong with going on a egg hunt, playing santa is fine ( I hope) and I ignore Halloween

- If you prescribe to a religion where certain animals are deemed "unclean," you may be stuck in a town where those characters are your neighbors.
All my villagers are clean (assuming the star on Winnie's head is just a sticker or somthing and not a tattoo or a mark having somthing to do with other religion)

- Your Animal Crossing character has both a father and a mother. Most religions are probably going to think this preferential, but considering the seemingly high percentage of LGBTQ+ fans of the game, well, there is a little disconnect.
I am not gay or a fan

- Animal Crossing may be a world of a lot of animals coming together, but can we talk about the fact that the playable characters are all white? Are people of color not expected to play the game?
Mario is white, link is white, captain omlier, ice climbers and a lot more main/playable characters are white but there re mik masks but I do agree nintendo should have added skin color choice to animal crossing since they have skin color choice in Pok?mon

- Outside of the game itself, there is a lot of disturbing fan fiction/art if you are not interested in furry culture.[/QUOTE]
That is not the game's fault, I am not a furry so I just ignore

- Harvey and Pascal both have mannerisms associated with heavy drug use.

Boy, do I have something to tell you about vegans*.

Anyways, Harvey is a hippie and lives in an RV park inspired by the van culture of the 1960s. Van culture started with the beatnik generation (which used amphetamines recklessly) and was co-opted by the hippie generation of the mid-to-late sixties and beyond. Harvey makes several references to his memory being shot (a common side effect of rampant drug usage). Liking "nature," "herbs," or "trees," is also slang for marijuana, which is a taboo in Japan looked upon with fascination.

Pascal also has "hippie" mannerisms, though his "slowness" is explained away as a head injury he endured. That said, he looks at scallops with a drug-like obsession.

As for Resetti, it isn't in this game, but here you go (lower center). What a sad, lonely man.

Anyways, I am not trying to change your religion or alter your beliefs. You can do that on you own. You seem to be fairly young (not an indictment; just an observation). I am just trying to say that you are prescribing "evil" to a fictional character, and I find that fairly closed-minded. This is a game, and games should be enjoyed the way the gamer wants to enjoy it. But in the world at large, I hope you don't operate with such a narrow view.

Also interesting that you've played 500+ days and hours but have never seen Pascal (hint: go catch a scallop).

* Not all vegans, naturally, but there is a correlation between vegetarianism/veganism and narcotics usage.

Guess what?! A raffle is a gambling competition.

Mario, Link, the Ice Climbers...these characters debuted in the eighties when video games were cost prohibitively expensive for people of color in the first place. Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Techmo Bowl were the only games for the original Nintendo that featured any active marketing towards people of color (and Punch Out's protagonist was white as well). The point is, it took seven generations for Pokemon to introduce the ability to play as a character of color. That's progress. Animal Crossing is still lagging in this fashion.

Your answers have all but confirmed both your approximate age and religion. Again, that's fine. I'm not trying to tell you what to do or what to think. But I am pretty sure your god wants you to be loving, understanding, and accepting and there is probably a little bit of proselytizing in there too. The point is, be open-minded to the world at large.

I don't mean to judge, but I think you are overthinking all of this. I think unlocking her shop should be fine, as you wouldn't need to even use it. Just having a complete set can be so satisfying. Now, if your religion doesn't want you associating with her in any way, I might suggest not even playing the game because a lot of it is gonna be associated with the things mentioned earlier, even if you don't know it.

A rabbit wearing boots and makeup? I can just easily ignore her

I actually am starting to like the empty spot, it makes my town look cool and not too fancy

It is a kids game, if there were references to drugs it would be rated at least PG or even M

That might not be an adult magazine (it's a kids game!) it might be shopping magazine, health magazine or even just a magazine about a famous person he likes and that person was wearing the bikini there.

Also interesting that you've played 500+ days and hours but have never seen pascal
I caught a scallop on the island and I don't swim much

Raffle was not the word I was looking for, I forgot the name but I think the fourtune cookies as you spinning a prize wheel or getting a paper out of a bag with your eyes closed, you don't know what it is but you always get a prize, sometimes good or okay and doing it is free (especially in animal crossing becouse all I have to do is shake my 3ds)

Those aren't boots, they're stalkings and pantyhose.

I mean, I can kinda see your thoughts about Katrina being evil, cause she can tell the future which I think I have heard in some religions that it's evil/associated with witches and dark magic, but at the same time the game isn't meant for Katrina to be evil. She simply uses cards/the star matrix to predict your luck for that day, and offer you advice to have good luck or counter the bad. She don't do much more then that. Heck, luck isn't even the future.

However, she is part the game, same as Kapp'n, K.K., Resetti, Harvey ect... Animals mention her, her tent will continue to show up in the Plaza until you make her shop, so unless you never talk to your animals and avoid the plaza at all cost, you can't totally avoid her. Plus, does that make the lovely phone evil? An automated calling service that is a substitute for Katrina, and tells you which item will bring you luck/counter the bad.

Based on what you have said so far, does your religion also disprove of zodiacs, star signs, horoscopes and astral bodies used for predictions? Cause those all also appear in the game as well.

Salty people wanting me to quit by saying things I can avoid/ignore and this thread was a tree size question.

And they are making excuses of adult magazines, drug addict animals and a rabbit in inappropriate outfit.

The magazine is obviously just a famous example person in a bikini or a health/diet one.
Liking scallops or liking nature and having a bad memory does not make you a drug addict.
The rabbit is in boots or somthing becouse it is clearly not wearing pants like most characters.

ANIMAL CROSSING IS A "G" RATED KIDS GAME!

I don't get it, you made these threads and calling others salty?

Guys this user is probably young you don't need to point out all the adult/religious references in the game lol, just let them ignore Katrina

I don't get it, you made these threads and calling others salty?
I am also confused as to why you think that anyone--and I presume this is directed at me--would be salty.

I think this entire time I have been friendly and civil. I have encouraged you to look at the world from a complete perspective, and provided an alternative way for you to look at the game. I've encouraged you to challenge your belief system, not abandon it.

Your impression of saltiness and the idea that I might have any care in the world whether or not you quit or play Animal Crossing betrays your narrow worldview. I don't want you to quit playing at all [though I don't care if you do]. I just want to remind you that if you look at the world with jaded glasses, all of the green flags just end up looking like flags.

Back to talking about my tree size, how many more stages of tree size until I get the biggest

The pictures that was given that had tree sizes was way to blurt and hard to see

- - - Post Merge - - -

actually, it's E rated

and while there's nothing concrete about it being an adult magazine, it's very clearly meant to be a gravure photo at the bare minimum. something not even exclusive to adult publications in japan

I think it is rude to "correct" people when they are already correct
Especially when they were saying the age rating in their own country.

For me the ratings are G (everyone), PG (parental guidance), M (15+), MA (15 +), and R (18+ I think)

I was not referring to you

Pretty sure they are pointing out that Twiggy is calling us salty for presenting facts they don't like.

literally just "what" for that first part

and what country uses a hybrid tv/films ratings system for video games? honest question, because if you're merging them all together, they shouldn't be. they're all run by different groups of people operating under similar, yet not the same, criteria in how things get rated

and this applies further to ratings boards across different regions

Games have the same/similar ratings

The "adult magazine" is clearly not an adult magazine
Harvey and pascal are clearly not drug addicts

And you know it!
