Just me that thinks villager popularity ranks aren’t totally correct?

Tbh I don’t like like the idea of a tierlist because:

A) People feel guilty for passing over or not wanting a popular villager

B) When people have all of the popular villagers, they’re referred to as “basic”

Not only that, but a lot of them are kinda inaccurate. I highly doubt Raymond is as popular as many make him out to be due to how much people love to vocalize how much they hate him or how “(insert villager here) is so much better”.

This is why I don't use tier lists as guides other than when I have to buy villagers I like (luckily, I won't have to do it again as I'm done kicking out and buying villagers). I see a lot of posts of people "apologizing" for having a low-tiered island, so to speak? Like, what? If you like those villagers, you have nothing to apologize for. It's YOUR island, not anyone else's. Same thing for people with high-tiered villagers, as long as it's not solely to capitalize on the fact that they're high-tiered.

I ignore rankings and like the villagers I like for my own reasons.

Some of the "popular" villagers are high for a lot of good reasons (no amiibo, unique design, don't have multiple "better" villagers in their same personality type) while others people get on the hype train for.

A week before Merry got meme'd there was a thread on TBT talking about how she looked creepy (her eyes) and Rosie was clearly supreme peppy cat. Then suddenly out of no where everyone loved her after a couple memes talking about her having a double chin that she tries to hide in her photo her popularity ranking skyrockets her into a tier (or two?) higher than she was at before.
It really goes to show that several villagers just need the right exposure to get people's attention.

Also, as mentioned before. There are over 300 villagers in New Horizons. Unless new people go online to say the Wiki (or do intense island hopping) they wouldn't even know the "lesser tier" cuties even exist. They only know about the ones people will talk about on their twitter or their facebook... which are going to be the higher high tier villagers or the super "awful" ones (bearold, jamb., diva, etc.). Thanks to that they are clearly going to want the higher ones.
