Just Had A Mini Tantrum

I completed my dreamies a few days ago so I had all 10 of my favourite villagers and I made a point of speaking to every single one of them until they do that 'i'm busy thinking and can't talk'.

Yet somehow, Poppy moved out today without ever pinging to tell me and none of the other villagers ever mentioned it. So now I have no choice but to cycle through 16 villagers (keeping in mind I only have one spot for villagers to move in and out of as I'm keeping the other 9 residents) you only get a 10th villager from streetpass or random move-ins from other towns so even if I TTed, it would take me probably a year to get her back.

I'm so devastated, I'm tempted to just restart my town, even though I've had it for a year and a half and I love it.

While it sucks, give it a few days and it won't seem as bad as it does now. It's not worth resetting your game over a single villager. There are hundreds of villagers in the game so don't fixate on the one you lost - instead find a new one to welcome into your town instead. The constant changing of villagers is what keeps the game exciting and fresh.

Sorry to hear that ><. At this point, you have three options on what to do next:

1. You can do the 16 villager cycling like you mentioned. It will be incredibly difficult for you since you have 9 other dream villagers set in stone. The last villager to move in is, in general, a lot more cumbersome to move out. The last villager to move into my town has never suggested to move out and I've had him for about 2-3 months now. Doing that 16 times would require a lot of patience and a lot of time-travelling which could be a risk for your other 9 dream villagers.

2. You could try to find a different permanent villager to put in your 10th position. This seems like the easy solution. There are over 300 villagers and perhaps there is one that you'll eventually grow attached to.

3. Reseting. I'd advise against this because it takes a LOT of effort to rebuild a town, collect dream villagers, get PWPs, complete the museum, upgrade stores, etc... Even if you did recover your town's progress eventually then there's no guaranteeing that the same thing wouldn't happen again ><.

I'd go with option 2 if I were you, but regardless, I wish you luck with the choice you make!

You can get a 10th villager by inviting a villager from someone else's town, as well. That would speed up the process a bit, but you have to wonder if it would really be worth the trouble. Like Tina said, there are so many villagers in this game, I can't imagine there's no one else you'd love to have in your town!

I would just find another villager if it had been any of the other 9, but Poppy is my ultimate dreamie and my favourite out of all my villagers. I wanted her in my town before the game was even released

I'm sorry that happened. You could always let another villager go and cycle for them both. It would move things along faster that way. Restarting is just so...permanent.

Plus! A tip for the future: It doesn't matter if you talk every villager to death every day. You'll want to listen for those key gossip phrases. I don't feel confident no one will move unless I get two or three rumors from different villagers, especially a villager in their house.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I was extremely upset when I lost flurry. Keep on mind, getting a tenth villager to move out is extremely rare and difficult, so you may actually have to let go of at least another dreamie and cycle out that way if you really want that villager back.

Or reset your town

Orrrr, if your ds has a certain firmware on it, you can scan a qr code to clear your cycle so you can adopt her the next time you see her without losing anyone! (I know people on here are sensitive about those things but I think people should know before resetting their whole town)
