Do you sit down to a good jigsaw puzzle?

I was reading through a good thread by @Kitsuragi, who posted about puzzles. I realized there are many examples of puzzles, so I wanted to narrow a topic down to just jigsaw puzzles. Opening the box, opening the bag, dumping the peices on a large enough surface, and then realizing the puzzle comes with lots of dust!

What are your favorite types of jigsaw puzzles? Easy and relaxing? Challenging? For me, I enjoy 1,000 pc puzzles because they are challenging, but not so much as you lunatics who do those 9,000 PC puzzles that are almost all the same color! (I am speaking of a good friend of mine!)

Do you enjoy jigsaw puzzles? Tell us about them!

I love jigsaw puzzles. I have collected a good amount of them over the years. I used to do them all the time as a kid then stopped for awhile. Started back up again a few years ago. We usually have 1,000 pieces but do have a few that are 500 or 750. W have all kinds and some are seasonal. I always start with the edges so this one horse puzzle was a bit of a challenge since so many pieces looked like they could be edge pieces but were not.

Started a new puzzle the other day so will post it when it’s finished.

I have never done a puzzle like that one! Cool horse puzzle!

Do you ever glue and frame them? I have thought about it a couple of times, but I wasn't sure if the puzzle was enough to hang on my wall. Although I do have a puzzle on my wall that my grandfather and I did when I was a kid, and he chose to frame it. He left it to me when he passed. I love seeing it every day!

I used to love them when I was a bit younger! I will say though my brain dislikes them now.. They're too difficult for me- either that or maybe I'm just too impatient lol. I vote the latter. I tend to get discouraged quickly, so I haven't done any in a long time. I like word (or number) puzzles / games tho! Like word searches, crosswords, Sudoku.. etc!

All you had to do was say the word Sudoku for me to understand how you feel about jigsaw puzzles! I have tried them many times and after my brain hurts 😆

Thanks , that was the first puzzle I had done that was like that. It was a fun challenge. We did a puzzle that looks like a basket for Easter that is also a shape puzzle .
This one ended up being bigger than I thought it was. I haven’t framed any because I like to redo them. That is great that you have one you did with your grandfather framed. I used to do them my grandfather as well. Now I do them with my mom.

I like them. I haven’t assembled one in years but I have a couple of puzzles. One of them is a really nice photo montage of RuPaul’s promo looks for Drag Race. Funny thing is my sister mistakenly got it for me for two consecutive birthdays! I told her that she already gave it me and we both laughed about it and I returned it and got myself an e-book on Michelangelo instead. I also have a puzzle that will end up as a hanging picture. I plan on putting that together and maybe hanging it in my bedroom. I might need to buy some glue as the one that cam3 in the kit might be too old now.

Yes, I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles. I do jigsaw puzzles with my mom and my two sisters. We do challenging and fun puzzles and sometimes easy and relaxing puzzles. I haven’t done a jigsaw puzzle with my mom and my two sisters in a while. Hopefully, we can pick up doing puzzles with my mom and my two sisters soon.

I love them, I often play to online jigsaws before going to bed with rain sounds in the background.
I'm a bit picky about my choice of images thought, I prefer night themes, city or landscape.
I found a website where you can upload your own images and play with others but I prefer playing alone.
Sometimes I enjoy doing one color puzzle, like all white, or color gradient. It's easier for the eyes.

This is the puzzle I started the other day. Was able to finish it today.

Now to think about what puzzle to start on my next day off.

Omg yes I love jigsaws! 1,000 pieces are my absolute favourites. I’ve framed one Tangled one for my room and one Beauty and the Beast one for my mum’s room

How many peices is that? And, are you saying you finished it in a "few days?" Believe me, I wouldn't doubt you! I am just slow compared to others when it comes to puzzles! I am impressed!

I will take a picture of the one I am currently working on, plus the included mini poster so you can see what it will hopefully become eventually.

On closer inspection, those are unusual peice shapes. That looks hard!

Sorry I am not always the best at explaining things. I also have some help from my mom since we do them together. This one took us about 5 days it was 1,000 pieces. Most 1,000 take us about a week depending on how difficult and how much time I we have, . The fastest I finished a puzzle was in a day. It was a 500 piece puzzle and I wasn’t having a good day at all so I just focused on the puzzle . It was this puzzle.

Some of the pieces were a funny shape. Like this one . Most of the were pretty normal.

I love funny shaped puzzles. The horse one had a cowboy hat, boot and a house . This is they looked looked like . Picture is from the box,

This is the puzzle I am working on. Its 1,000 peices and a bit difficult (for me) with all of the dark colors. I am sharing a picture of the mini poster it came with, and how far along I am, which is not very!! I am having fun with it though! I enjoy the challenge!

I have never seen jigsaw puzzles past 2000 pieces, so learning that 9000 piece jigsaw puzzles exist is crazy.

I enjoy doing puzzles, although I'm always annoyed by the puzzle dust that comes with opening a new bag, lol. I usually stick to purchasing 1000 piece ones because my mother likes to do them with me, and that amount is the sweet spot she's decided upon. Our favorite puzzle however, is 1500 pieces, and we used to put it together every Christmas with my grandmother before she passed.

I've always wanted to frame a completed one. My mom and grandmother have both done so, and while I have plenty I like that would look good on a wall, I've just never gotten around to doing it.

@ShawnFuzz that is an awesome puzzle. It looks like such a fun challenge. Looks like you are off to a good start .

I hadn’t seen anything over 2,000 either. 9,000 would be crazy. I don’t think o would be able to finish one that big I wonder where you would put it . We do the 1,000 most of the time since my mom also likes that size. It also depends on how big the puzzle will be since our puzzle table is on the small size. I would love to get a bigger table to try some 2,000 piece puzzles.

Currently deciding between these two puzzles which will be next. Then again I might surprise myself and pick a different one.

Yeah, from time to time. My Granny did them a lot, and whenever we’d go visit them we’d do them together. I miss those days.

i do when bird and bear stay out of my lair

On a real note, I used to, but can't use my arms anymore.

I absolutely love the fact that most of the people in this thread do jigsaw puzzles because they have done them with older family members!! (Mom's Grandmother's, for me my Grandad, etc...) Maybe this is the old man in me, but I hope you all pass along this hobby to the next generation... your kids, neices, nephews... it seems to be a nice tradition, keep it going!
