My friend bought two japanese games for his ds and they are going to arrive tommorow do japanese games work for north american ds lite?

Sometimes games and Systems use Country codes for a specific area/country. And if your game and system don't match up then you can't play.

I'm not entirely sure if the DSi has the country codes or not...you should ask Mr_Hobo, I hear he has a Japanese Wii.

They probably might not work on the DSi.

They work.
I have Jump Ultimate Stars straight from Japan and it works fine.
I also believe that only the DSiWare are region specific.
