i have an iphone 5s and it has been jailbroken since this summer. it worked fine at first, but i can see how its starting to affect my phone a little so i want to get rid of it. my initial plan was to wait until the next ios update would be available so i can update it that way and get rid of cydia, if you get what i mean, but i just found out that tai g disabled ios updates for some reason - correct me if im wrong. in other words, i want to update my phone to the latest ios but when i go to system update, it would just keep on buffering for literally hours and nothing would pop up. i did save a back up file before jailbreaking, but when i tried restoring it a couple weeks ago, for some reason it wouldnt work

im not sure if you get the concept of jailbroken iphones, but theres no option to 'reset' it in the settings. i already mentioned that i tried restoring it from my back up but it didnt work :/

Can you elaborate on the restore not working? My phone has been jailbroken twice and every time I restored from my computer it removed the jailbreak flawlessly

my apologies if this doesnt make sense. i tried restoring my phone from my backup a few months prior to jailbreaking, as i probably already mentioned. restoring it did work in a way, but it wasnt what i wanted. for some reason i just got set a few weeks back to my old lock and home screen wallpapers and i still had cydia, but my most recent installed tweaks just got removed

I messed up while jailbreaking my iPhone, had to factory reset it via recovery mode using iTunes.

"When you restore your iOS device or iPod to factory settings, you'll also install the latest version of software. You can then set up your device as new, or restore from a backup.

Restoring iOS or iPod software deletes all of your data and content from your device, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar info.
You can also erase all content and settings on your device to restore it to factory settings.
Before you restore your device

Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes.
Use iTunes to back up your device. Transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.
If you're using iOS 6 or later, go to Settings > iCloud and turn off Find My iPhone.
Restore your device

Connect your device to your computer using the cable that came with it.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod when it appears in iTunes.
In the Summary panel, click Restore.

Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the device software file and restore your device.

After your device is restored to factory settings, it will restart. When it does, you’ll see the "Slide to set up” welcome screen. Follow the steps in the setup assistant. You can set up your device as new or use a previous backup. If you restored an iOS device that has cellular service, it will activate after you finish setting up your device."

I am so sorry to hear that. You can restore your data from iTune or iCloud. If you don't know how to do this, you can follow this article.
