I've lost the plot!

I'm plot resetting right now, and the first time I started a new save file, I found the plot, but I didn't like where it was so I got out of the game. When I started another new save file, I couldn't find the plot anywhere, and two new save files later, I still can't find it!

I've got eight villagers right now, so it's supposed to just be a random villager coming in, but I've never known the game to give you a villager and then change its mind while plot resetting, especially since plot resetting isn't really something you're supposed to do. Has this happened to anyone else, and if I just open up my mayor will the plot suddenly appear again, trampling my carnations? Please help.

Happens to me all the time. turn off you 3DS and keep trying

A random move-in is exactly that, random. Just because a villager can move in doesn't mean one definitely will immediately. If you plot reset there is a chance that villager wont have plotted and if one has it'll be a different villager each time. If you don't plot reset you risk having someone move into somewhere inconvenient.

Sometimes I save the new profile when no one moves in (then delete it) just so I can time travel a little further where the chances of someone moving in is more likely.

Plot Resetting a random move-in villager really is a pain it can take weeks (well in my experience)

2) This happens all the time, don't worry. If you can't find the time to carry on plot resetting today, just set your 3DS clock back by a day tomorrow and keep trying.

Yep! Just TT a day forward using your 3DS clock. No one can move when you have 8 villagers so you can keep going forward until you find a plot!

I actually didn't realise this happened all the time. I've been plot resetting for a while and this has never happened to me, usually if there's a random ninth villager coming I find a plot every time I create a new save file. This is a relief, I thought my recent time-travelling had broken the game.
