I swear Bam used to be on top, but now he's not even tier 1... And Daisy used to be a tier 5, but she moved up! Molly used to be tier 1, I think, and the octopodes were less popular, from what I remember!
Isn't Molly still Tier 1? She's pretty popular if not anyways.
To the OP - I think lots of people are actively searching for Tier 5s now as in most cycling towns they get auto voided.

Nope, tier 1 is basically just the wolves now, with a couple of normals and random cute males thrown in!

Julian was extremely popular back then. I sold him for 25 million bells. I don't actually remember Whitney or Skye to be very popular (unless my memory deceives me). Ankha and Lolly were definitely higher up on the list and I think Chief was Tier 2. But other than that, I don't think the Tier 1 villagers have changed that much. Was just curious.

Yeah same. The wolves are def. my favourite species as a whole, but I can't be bothered to go through the stress of trying to get so many tier 1's off people! (And many of the tier 1 wolves I think are creepy *cough*Skye*cough*)
From my time in the VTP, I can say that a lot of lower-tier villagers are gaining popularity, mainly because everyone has all the tier ones and it gets a bit repetitive. Mainly smugs but a lot of others too! Ankha and Lolly are still popular, Fang is still popular (not so much Chief anymore), most of the female deer are popular, and Beau too. I've seen Phil be taken off autovoid and adopted multiple times. Also it seems like bears are getting more popular.

The "official tier list" is horribly outdated. NicPlays did a great job with his popularity survey earlier this year. I would post a link but I'm in school right now lol
Edit: AHA I found it. I copied and pasted the results. The number after the name is the amoung of votes they each got. Also, there's one of each species, the most popular of each. Those were the polls leading up to this.

Gotts say that this isn't accurate... Phoebe may have more votes than Julian, but it diesn't mean she's more popular than him, it just means she's the most popular of her species and more people voted on her poll than his.... There's definitely an order bias there, because as the polls got more popular, then more people would have voted on them...
But I agree the tier list isn't accurate, and in fact the popularity of villagers is manipulated by where they are on the list! The higher up they are, the more people sell them for, meaning people therefore become less bothered about getting said villager, and therefore they become less popular. Also the more popular villagers are kept in people's towns, therefore the less they are seen on the Villager Trading Thread, and the further down they drop on the tier list, because they aren't seen to be selling etc.
Molly is still pretty popular. I know I wanted her badly and am happy to have her. Marshal is number 1, but I still traded him out for Colton, who is Tier 3. No regrets. Colton has already said more interesting and new things.
Oh no, that's not how it worked. People voted on their favorite from each species and THEN the winners of each species were compiled into THAT list and THEN people voted on their favorites from THAT list. So that's the final result. Judging from the VTP, it's very accurate. lol

Aww, Cole is T4 now...little cutie did NOT belong in tier 5.
Because it's a game that interests me so I'm curious which villagers people like. I don't really see the big deal...
