So I've been enjoying diving and swimming immensely. It's very relaxing and soothing during the night. Just you and the sea under a clear, starry sky, moonbeams sparkling across the calm ocean surface...but has anyone else noticed that your player doesn't shiver or sneeze when they come out of the water?

It was a small detail in NL but it added immersion and personality to your player. They're expressing how chilly it must feel to have been swimming in the ocean, but they can't wait to jump right in again!

I absolutely love little details like that. What are the small things you appreciate about Animal Crossing in general?

Yeah the personal touch is almost non existent in NH.

I miss those little details.

didn't notice that, would enjoy just floating and looking at the starry sky except for one thing. Can't wish while in the water, so have to stick to my regular cliff spots for just enjoying the view

I know that you guys might disagree with me, but I like that flowers work on Mendelian Genetics. I’m in a major that requires some knowledge of biology, so I think the concept is a fun Easter egg. Now, if only there weren’t 3-4 squares to worry about...

I'm actually somewhat glad that they got rid of that, because even though the attention to detail was cute, I always felt bad making my character be cold!

There are so many little details in this game! I love how many objects have new or interesting interactions. Like:
~ the car beds honk and the headlights turn on when you lie down on them
~ the anglerfish' "light" on his head turns on and off instead of the light in the fishtank when you put it down
~ speaking about fishtanks, the mantis shrimp tries to break the entire thing if you interact with it!
~ the snapping turtle's snapping of course
~ all the different ways the villagers sing your town tune and how it adds to their personality
~ the fact that some villagers, like coco, move differently than others to add to what kind of creature they are
and probably many more, these are just some details I can think of right now.

Oh, that might be true actually! I feel like that was the case in NL, maybe? I can't remember but it seems right.

I had barely noticed that my player seemed unbothered by the chilly water; I was more surprised that they didn’t shake a bit of the water or sand out of their shoes lol... But there are some other details in this game I love:
- When you stand close to the piranha tank in the museum, it’ll start charging at the glass until you move
- The rain hitting the windows of your house 🥰
- The fly display in the museum, which features a strand of DNA behind them. Fruit flies (Drosophilia species) are commonly used in breeding experiments to study genetics because of their rapid generations and well understood genome. It’s a nice touch for a biologist like me to see!
- Villagers sigh in relief when you catch a scorpion/tarantula in front of them, rather than clapping.

I love this so much! Or when it's thundering and you can hear and see it in your house.

That reminds me, I should check if you can hear the sea in a house that's placed near the sea still. That was the case in... Well, in some earlier games, maybe all? Again I just don't remember 😅

Yes!! I forgot about that one but that might be one of the cutest! Makes it a lot more real, and also very rewarding to catch one in front of them.

When I was trying to read this, suddenly a fly flew in front of my screen.

Woah....talk about immersion 😱

The part about the fly *shivers*

In NL they shivered no matter the season
Actually I remember them only shivering in the winter time in NL! I always felt bad making my character dive into the chilly waters lol
but ya, pretty sure its only in winter time especially because I would dive a lot on Kapp'n's island and my character never shivered there

i miss how in new leaf, the campsite would have a tent when it’s in use most of the time except for winter, where it’d be an igloo again. i’ve seen some people in the southern hemisphere/time travellers say that that small detail didn’t make it to new horizons which is kind of sad ;u;

Also, remember how in NL if you sit down next to a villager when they're sitting on a bench, etc. the two of you would exchange smiles? Why not in NH?

Edit: instead, they just get up and walk away after a few seconds. Did I do something wrong? ;_;
