It’s been (nearly) 3 weeks since the games been out, and I honestly still can’t believe that I’m still playing it. I keep thinking that I’m about to play New Leaf, only to pop on my Switch to play New Horizon instead. I guess after 7 years of waiting, it’s hard to shake off that habit of not expecting a new game, especially after the disappointment of Amiibo Festival.

I remember seeing the reveal at E3, when we see the Isabelle Amiibo being used on the WiiU, thinking that this’ll be our console AC version at last 😔

Do any of you guys still find it hard to believe, that we’ve finally got a new mainstream game, after 7 years?

i guess it mainly throws me off cuz it released the week my school closed due to corona, and I wasn't used to having so much time to play video games, especially a new release, but it is true that it seems like the game hasn't come out yet and to me, feels a lot like a dream rather than something i'm legitimately playing.

I'm so happy there's a new AC game, new leaf was seriously starting to show it's age!!

New Leaf, imo, was the pokemon gold/silver of Animal Crossing. 2 new personalites, island mini games, bushes, new flower types, swimming/diving, dream suite, HENRY the smug frog! And the list goes on!

Not hating on New Horizons, but maaan! New Leaf introduced a whole lot! And let's not forget that MASSIVE Welcome Amiibo free update! ❤❤❤

Yeah I definitely still have days where I'm like "I can't believe I'm playing a new mainline AC game", after 7 whole years since the last one was released and so much hype and build-up! It's a magical, surreal feeling and the game could not have come out at a better time, as others have said.

It feels really dreamy... I look at pictures of new leaf and I just think the graphics have definetely gotten better although it was easy not to notice before seeing the old pics. But honestly just love it and feels like a dream.. but wheres the diving suit.. I definetely think they could done more obvvv

I hadn't even realized it had been a whole 7 years since New Leaf released, probably since I didn't get around to buying it for a year or two after it dropped. And now I've been playing NH nonstop :'D

Time really does fly when you think about it. I still remember when New Leaf game first game out and not being able to play it until 2 years later. I vividly remember when the Welcome Amiibo update came out and how it changed everything.

Heck, I'm surprised I'm living in 2020. If you had told me back in December of 2019 there would be a widespread pandemic that's causing a worldwide economic downturn I would I would have assumed you were crazy.

This is very true.
Sometimes the disbelief is wow the game is so smooth I love it and other times it's my axe breaking and disbelief that it happens in an animal crossing game.
There's highs and lows to it for me.

I had that to begin with, but recently I’ve realised just how much is missing from the game. It’s exceptionally pretty but that’s about all it has going for it. It’s incredibly boring to play. Every time I try to get into it I remember that I could be having more fun in New Leaf. -.-

100%. We’ve waited so long and I feel like there was so much hype on the lead up. Sometimes when I’m wandering around my island I just stop and take a minute to appreciate it. :)

Too bad that it feels more like a demo than a full game, or a 2 week mini quest, just hoping the countless features of New Leaf gets added in updates, but it seems like even the cafe will go back to the museum..
Fingers crossed though, at least I still got a lot of terraforming left until there’s nothing left to do.
I’m not surprised that a lot of the new players have already quit, it’s a shame that they made the beginning a quest rather than the AC open ended charm.
Gameplay wise it’s definitely low compared to previous games, but with updates it could become the second best.

It definitely feels very surreal playing it! But great at the same time. We’ve waited for so long that it’s natural for it to be a bit shocking still, especially since it’s only been out for a few weeks! It’s still a brand new experience and will be for a long while.
