I recently bought Marshal and nobody had gifted him any items and when he first moved in he had his normal house with no unoriginal items in it. A couple days ago a wheel barrow appeared in his house, and I know it wasn’t me. Anybody know what happened?

Are you sure they weren't gifted anything by the previous person? They have storage and switch out their furniture sometimes so even if it looked like he had all his original stuff in the beginning doesn't mean he didn't have other furniture in his storage to use.
The guy I bought him from said he got him from and amiibo card and only had him for a few days. He said he didn’t talk to him until he wanted to move out so idk

I wonder what this is about, because I've left Marshal's house untouched. I don't gift items to any of the villagers. Marshal never had an umbrella in his house, but one day he did, and I asked my brother if he gave Marshal an umbrella. He said he didn't, so I'm not sure how or why he has one displayed in his house.

Maybe they do just switch things out then and they have things in their storage. Come to think of it, Megan has switched out her stuff sometimes with things I never gave her. But I didn't put much thought into it because it always still looked good.
