Items getting deleted Glitch? Quitting out of letters drag & drop & DELETED!

Ok, so what happened was I had saved up & bought Keaton an Ice-cream Lamp (sweets lamp) from Gracie to match his beach-themed house.

My inventory was full & I went to write a letter to myself & drag the gift into the letter to free up space. I also dropped some regular items onto the floor.

When I was making the letter to my future self I had something come up so I selected "I'll stop" and quit out of the letter.
When I checked my inventory the gift was gone! (No, it wasn't in any of the letters)

It also wasn't on the floor, the police station, the drawers (in case some weird teleportation happened) I checked high & low--no sweets lamp!

I ended up having to buy another one...because I don't like the sweets set but I just really wanted Keaton (cute smug Eagle with a beach house---WHY he is so unknown is crazy) to have that lamp!

Anyway does anyone know how this happened?

If it helps I was also standing near the cliff wall when it disappeared.

Hmm. I've never heard of it happening before. I guess because your inventory was full when you selected I'll Stop in the letter it didn't have anywhere for that item to go. I wonder if it'll turn up in the police station lost and found in a few days.

Ahh, that's too bad. I wish I knew what happened. I also wanted to tell you that villagers won't display wall items. If it's the mini lamp, then he will, but not the one that goes on the wall.

That's so strange, it might have glitches off the cliff or something or disappeared with the letter. I've never heard of it happening before.

Is it just the ice cream lamp that won't? I ask because I've always had villagers display wall items before, never tried with the ice cream lamp but I've given villagers princess clocks, custom paper wall lamp (Julian) and the panel from one of the sets (alpine I think) and they've all displayed.


Edit: never mind you can with the ice cream wall lamp, I just checked my town and I apparently gave Sprinkle one at some point.

Fancythat- I didn't think they would display wall furniture. I feel silly, because I've been playing for over two years and thought that they couldn't. I guess I need to send my villagers some cool items for them to hang on their walls.

Hey thanks for the replies guys!

I never found the disappearing sweets lamp so I bought him a new one. If you see my dream town Keaton actually did put it up in his house.
If only he knew all the effort I make for him.

His house looks good, except the large bookshelf..I wasn't expecting Wart Jr to give that to him! I wish I could give him a beach chair again.

I've accepted Kid Cat & Keaton will always have crazy houses.
